Let There Be Light!
I am a fan of Cree bulbs, especially with their warranty and standing behind their product. I find their LEDs to be an excellent replication of incandescent "warm white" at about 2700 Kelvin, and usually the Cree bulbs will have more lumens than other LED brands I have brought (Phillips). There is usually a small trade-off in watts. These are 11 watts.Installation is very simple. You remove the old bulb from your recessed light can. Then you turn each metal clip on the Cree light to the left/counter-clockwise until it lines up with the notch above it (on the blue housing). BE CAREFUL as the clips are bare metal and may be sharp. I can't even call them sharp, it is just that they are a thin, bare metal and you are moving them by hand with a little force. Then you just screw the socket adapter into your existing socket and push the light into the can and it will latch into place.I tried to avoid any adjustment bars, screws, etc. in my recessed cans so that the clips are clear of them. I did this so if I want to remove one, it should be easier. To remove, you can gently pull the Cree housing away from the ceiling and give it a turn counter-clockwise as it forces the clips to turn back to the right (clockwise), and release pressure. These are noticeably brighter than the 75 watt incandescent BR40 bulbs they replaced. The old bulbs were about 5 years old though so they may have lost brightness over time.I was hesitant about these as opposed to using Cree BR40 bulbs as my bulbs come right to the face of the recessed can so they are flush with the ceiling. These are set back a few inches. Since most of the ceilings I use these on are normal 8' high, I was worried if they would shed light on a smaller space, but they light it up perfectly. If you have 8' ceilings and have 75 watt cans now these will look brighter. At 90/100 watt floods, these 75 watt equivalents will look the same brightness. The photos included in my review are in an 11’ ceiling. They are (in order) old bulb light off, new Cree light off, old bulb light on, new Cree light on. The room is just as well lit, and actually a bit better, than with the 75 watt BR40 incandescent bulbs I replaced. No harsh shadows, warm white light, 11 watts versus 75, so 44 watts instead of 300 watts for the room.Plus these are one piece not a bulb and can so now its a little better sealed at each can.Outside of the clips being a little "sharp", these are awesome.

Most Effective Ceiling Can Light Fixture Replacement
I have used this fixture to replace fifty-two older fixtures in my house! It helped to use new compressed rubber foam gaskets with the fixtures because our drywall ceilings were imperfect, and the cutouts for the older cans were not perfectly round. The installation was simple and overcome difficult issues with different spring-loaded style trim pieces used on cans with incandescent and fluorescent light bulbs. With eight to nine foot high ceilings, this fixture provided the perfect light source for all rooms including my kitchen and bathrooms. I am very satisfied.

Easy to install, but might not be the most reliable
I installed about 20 or so of these in our house about two or three years ago. I had one fail and purchased another, as sometimes things fail. I think that these are a great option for most people, and I highly recommend them. The power usage is drastically lower than tungsten-filament bulbs. Installing the lights is as simple as screwing in a normal light bulb, as these connect to your existing fitting. Just screw the cable end into the fixture, then connect it to the LED, then the light fixture simply clips into place. Couldn't be easier.

Wish I Had Done This Years Ago!
These are great, beautiful. So easy to retrofit -- and they really did pop right into place. We have 48 of these throughout the house now -- and everything looks incredibly uniform. No bulbs sticking out at various angles -- all simple, clean lines. Each worked right out of the box. Depending on how many are ganged up, I did have to witch some of my oldr Meastro dimmer switchers to newer LED dimmers, but well worth the trouble in my opinion.

Misleading item description
These CREE trims are great lights. My issue was with the seller PlentyStockk. They listed them as soft white 2700k and shipped me 3500k cool white. I asked for replacement thinking it was a mistake, but the replacements they sent were also 3500k instead of 2700k.

Light has a bad driver
I really like the new design with the flexible adaptor. I have a house full of early 6" retrofit lights from EcoSmart (Home Depot), that used Cree components. They were 65W 9V lights, and they don't exist anymore. I was a little worried as I knew this one was going to be brighter. We installed it in a location by itself, so no big deal. Installation is a breeze, and the light looks great in the ceiling. Having the screw-in portion at the end of a wired adapter was really nice compared to the old lights we have that had the screw-in portion as a fixed part of the body of the light. Got it all set up and then noticed one night, after turning all the lights off in the room, that the element in this fixture still glowed. It had not been on recently, but it appeared to be on. This was noticed about a week after receiving and installing the light. I could have sent it back, but I contacted Cree directly. We own lots of Cree light bulbs, and their customer service is fantastic. I contacted them by email, worked through some questions, and they are sending a new one out to me. So anyone who has issues, I really recommend you contact them, if your light is still under warranty. They stand behind their products. This is a nice looking, easy to install light. The prices have come down quite a bit since I last purchased one. The only downside to LED bulbs is that they need to be disposed of like hazardous waste, not in the trash, if and when they stop working.
