Are these bags the same volume as the original or catering versions? I've ordered the catering and they are noticibly smaller.

The product comparison may have been added since the other answers were written - it clearly states that the "original" is good for mugs while the catering size is good for "smaller cups". I put three of the catering size in a coffee maker (dedicated for tea making) and make about 10 "cups" from that. The strength is good for me. Can't beat the price.

Are these tea bags compostable?

The tea leaves would be, but I had to research the bags and found this "PG Tips are currently made mostly with paper, but a small amount of polypropylene plastic is used to seal the bag and this takes a long time to break down. The replacement material [now being used] is made from corn starch, making the 10 billion PG Tips teabags produced every year, fully biodegradable. Feb 28, 2018"

There are concerns about microplastics being leeched out of tea bags and ingested by tea drinkers. has pg tips addressed this issue?

The bags are made of paper and are compostable.

They're NOT PYRAMIDS: They're basic SQUARE FLAT Teabags

This item is misrepresented as Pyramid bags, but what arrives are plain, flat, rectangle bags. The flavor of the tea the pyramid bags produce is definitely superior, and what arrives produces inferior flavor. This is a misrepresentation by the seller. Have been fooled twice: won't be buying from this source again.

NOT the pyramid-shaped tea bag.

I should have opened this up and inspected it before the window to return closed. I'd bought a bag of these normally pyramidal shaped bags previously, and decided to buy an extra for the pantry since the quality and price were as good as small quantities i'd purchased earlier.Such a disappointment! The bags are flimsy, flat instead of pyramidal, and few of them can be used without using scissors to cut them apart. The container bag has a layer of loose tea in the bottom from broken bags. Don't dare try to pull them apart with your fingers or both bags will tear. I liked the strong tea and i preferred the pyramid bags BECAUSE i didn't have to tear anything apart!I compared. I made a glass of tea with a pyramidal bag and one with the flat bag. The color seems similar, but the tea in the flat bags is most analogous to drinking flat beer.

Good tea, but these are not 'pyramid' shaped tea bags. I haven't been able to find PG Tips with pyramid bags in ages, it seems. Yet Amazon keeps advertising that these are pyramids. Please stop.

Not pyramid bags

Although these are identified as pyramid bags, they are not. PG Tips has apparently stopped making pyramid bags - they’re now flat square tea bags. The tea leaf mix has reportedly changed, too, and there is a taste difference (not because of the bag shape, but becauuse of the new recipe), though I still find it very good.
