Do these glasses explode on their own?

Yes, indeed, these DO eventually explode. I picked one up last night and it exploded in my hand with a very loud bang, showering me with glass, and spraying glass all over my kitchen (took hours to clean up). I got some small cuts on my leg, and my friend who was sitting about 8 feet away got a small shard in the back of her hand. Luckily I was wearing glasses, so the bits headed for my eyes bounced off. Needless to say, I immediately threw out all my remaining ones. I've had them for about 10 years, and they were in constant heavy daily use and always washed in the dishwasher. They look great, feel great in the hand, and are extremely tough (never broken when dropped) and functional. They were my favorite glasses. Nevertheless - don't buy these unless you are willing to risk the occasional scary glass shard shower.

Great size for a full can of coke or whatever you use it for

This is a great size, takes a full 330 ml can of liquid, has room for lots of ice too. Main thing, it does not break easily, so in the long run, it will pay for the extra you pay for it., and avoid the risk and nuisance of broken glass. I wish it looked better, and there were better design options, but overall great product.
