Q: Do you always have to use bananas , I'm not real fond of the Banaba flavor.?

No, you do not always have to use bananas and when you add another fruit with the banana it typically takes on the flavor of the other fruit. So, if you're not big on bananas it's probably a good way to include bananas into your diet without the 'banana' flavor taking over!Must be frozen fruit! I used a bunch of small fruits the other day and it got a bit messy at first, is why they suggest starting with a banana. I added frozen peaches and it smoothed out the messiness. It sort of scatters if not using banana.

Q: Does it have a mixing container like a blender where you throw everything in and it is thoroughly mixed in so we can add protein powder & mix it in?

Not a mixing container, more like a chute, think a snowcone machine. You can add the protein pack in with the fruit but it sounds a bit of an overkill to me. This is a dessert, just enjoy the taste of the fruit in the yummy texture of soft ice cream. What next? adding TVP. Simple is better sometimes :)
