I recently purchased the Clarke Brothers Wheel Marking Gauge and it has quickly become one of my favorite tools in my woodworking kit. The design is simple yet effective, making it easy to use and the 2 replacement blades are a convenient bonus. The gauge has held up well to frequent use and has provided accurate markings every time. I highly recommend this product to anyone in the market for a reliable and efficient marking gauge

Good product backed by AMAZING customer service
I habe had this product for a little over a year. It comes ready to use with 2 spare cutter wheels, just in case. Turns out those spare wheels were absolutely needed as I managed to break/chip mine fairly quickly (I am rough with my stuff). At the time my last wheel gave out I went looking for replacements, this was roughly six months prior to writing this. Clarke brothers, at the time, did not have a way to get just the replacement wheels (they do now, more on that) so I set outdoor trying wheels from various other brands/companies but never found one that fit 'correctly'. There are some that will get you by but they don't fit well. Finally giving up, I messaged Clarke brothers to plead with them to male replacement cutter wheels available. To my surprise, I was informed that replacement cutter wheels will be made available on amazon in the near future and was assured that replacement would be sent to me. I waited months for said wheels and they never arrived. Again I reached out to Clarke brothers. They assured me that the cutters would arrive within the next few weeks and that a logistics issue was causing the delay. Another few weeks with nothing. Then, a Clarke brothers rep reached out to me regarding the issue. I was informed that, due to the long delay in fulfilling my request, that I would receive another marking gauge with replacement wheels. So, in order for Clarke brothers to hold themselves to thier standards, I got a free marking gauge on top of the one I have already, just so they could make sure they kept thier promise of providing me with replacement cutter wheels. This is the kind of customer service that every company should have.As for the product itself, it is a simple elegant design. The weight feels good in the hand, making it's use comfortable. The cutters are sharp enough but, like most tool blades, could be improved with some additional honing. Tje anti roll head is also a great feature, not necessarily needed, but makes the product just a bit better. Since I now have a second marking gauge it will replace my first, much cheaper and poorly designed gauge (which is also a wheel gauge, if anyone wanted to know). I still intend on purchasing a micro adjust marking gauge, and was going back and forth between Clarke brothers and another brand. The customer service that Clarke brothers provided basically guaranteed my purchase so I will be making that soon.

Not Bad
My Clarke gauge came and here are some thoughts about it.Pros:- Metric (0mm-150mm) available on one side; SAE (0”-6”) on the other. Having both options is really great.- The rod of the gauge is black and the gauge markings are gold. The contrast is easy to see. Also, the rod is nice and heavy. I’m no metallurgist, but I would say it is steel. Feels substantial.- Flattened edge of one side of the circumference of the brass guide plate; I saw this feature in the product views before I purchased. This flattened edge allows for a 1/2” clearance (5/8” clearance w/out the flat) which allows user to ‘not’ have to hang the marked up edge off the bench for any stock down to 9/16” thickness. Small variance - but handy. Another nice feature of the flat is noticed when you set it down. If you’ve ever had a gauge roll after you set it down, you’ll appreciate what I do - namely, this Clarke gauge rolls to the flat and then stops! Nice.Cons:- While the rod is nice and substantial, & the brass is great, the collar beneath the brass plate which holds the set screw seems to be aluminum (?). I’m hoping it is not zinc. Whatever it is, it is lighter than the rod and causes me to wonder about durability. After all, product is only as good as its weakest part. This may be the weak part on this tool.- The flat edge on the brass guide plate appears to have been flattened on a grinder. This is fine, except a production step was skipped in polishing this edge. The corners on the flattened side are quite sharp. They are not ragged, but they are very pronounced right angle. I think I’ll be taking some 1000 grit sandpaper to mine to polish this out.- Single locking screw is nice. But I wonder without having two set screws if this will ever come loose as I use it. If it does, that would be most unfortunate.I think this will be a handy tool in my collection. Not sure that it will replace my Veritas, but it will certainly be pulled out when metrics are needed (my Veritas can’t do metric).Would give 5 stars, but because of work necessary to deal with sharp corners and the questionable “feel” of the collar and only one set screw - four stars feels right.

Good tool for marking center lines and it comes with spare parts
I have only used the tool on one project and it works good. I build shop stools and need to mark center lines on 3/4” lumber for drilling holes. The other tools for finding and marking center lines constantly breaks the lead off pencils.

Value For Money.
That is a very good product. The weight of the tool is ideal and nice to handle. The markings are clear and readable. The icing on the cake is it comes with one blade mounted on the tool and two ( 2 ) spare blades with mounting screws in a plastic bag.Buying this tool is a good deal.

Works well and as advertised
Have had the product only for a few days. It is accurate and is easy to setup to correct values. Like it a lot so far. Cannot yet comment on hardiness and how long it keeps it edge. The spares are a good addition.
