🔌 Wire Less, Live More! Your thermostat's new best friend.
The VenstarACC0410 Add-A-Wire Kit is a revolutionary solution designed to simplify thermostat installations. It allows 5-wire thermostats to operate using only 4 wires, while also enabling 5 wires to function as if they were 6, making it an essential tool for modern smart home setups.

Easy to Install
First off, I suggest watching the Venstar Add-a-Wire official video on YouTube. This is what I used for reference while doing my installation. Wire charts (like what is included in the package) are not helpful to me. Anyhow, I got it set up in about 2.5 hours (this included a trip to Lowe’s and actually LOCATING my furnace). During installation, I just used a drill, mini screwdriver set, wire cutters/strippers, and what was included in the package. It was way easier and hundreds of dollars cheaper than running a whole new wiring setup. I’ve had it installed for about 2-3 weeks and my smart thermostat is working beautifully (and saving me money in the process). I couldn’t be happier! If this changes, I will update.Update: 2 years later and still working perfectly!!

Awesome way to add a wire when you need a 5th
I received a smart wifi thermometer that required to have a 5th wire in order to properly function the thermostat.I got some wire and some fishtape and attempted to fish my own wire, which I was not successful. This little unit is amazing, it lets you create a 5th wire where you only have 4. Basically it takes one of the wires, splits it into two on the thermostat end, then on the furnace end you add this little module to your furnace controller board and it allows for a 5th wire.I have been using it through all the summer AC use and its working like a champ and now I am totally controlled by wifi.If you are looking to add a wire on a 4 wire system and you need a 5th, if you cant run your own wire, this is the next best thing.

Great product!
When installing a Nest thermostat I researched to ensure our AC system is compatible. I read that the "C" or "Common" wire (constant 24v power) is not necessary for the Nest, and so we could install it even though our system had no "C" wire running to the thermostat. However, I read one source that said the Nest will "pulse" the furnace to recharge itself, which kicks on the system even though no AC/heat is used/needed. So, I got this kit so we could have a "C" wire and not have the pulsing issue. Installing was a breeze and the Nest works great! Just watch the video posted by Venstar for help installing it!

Very good instructions and it works like a charm.
I got this for my Nest and it has stopped acting wonky. I’m giving it 4 stars because although the instruction video on YouTube is awesome, when they say “you may have to make the hole behind your thermostat larger” they mean “you’ll have to jam more wires including a wire nut back there at it will be the hardest part of the install. Once I had that done, though it was a breeze.

I don't know a Phillips from a hex, but I did this
For someone who has no skills with tools, this was easy for me to figure out. The promos say it can be done in 15 minutes and for someone who knows what they're doing, it wouldn't have taken the 2 hours it took me. But the price is good and it does exactly what's promised. I'm glad I bought it.

Nest Common wire fix - convert a 4 wire to a 5 wire
Brought my home in July 2017 which came with Nest. No problems till error message pops up saying something like lack of power going to Nest. This was this past January. So, called my home warranty company; and they sent out a HVAC person who told me that the Nest was a battery powered unit( one can power the unit by simply using ones cell phone cord charger. Did not know this either) which required its own power to work/cycle properly etc.So the guy "borrowed" the central A/C wire to fudge a common wire until a new wire can be re run to the thermostat etc.The HVAC guy wanted to charge me $225 to run another wire. I called a few other HVAC companies and they wanted the same amount or more to run a common wire.I found a HVAC company who told me they can do a service call for $75 (had to pay extra $10 to have the A/C wire put back in its proper place on the A/C. I did not want to chance doing the install myself. But saved myself $111.87). But at the same time I found this lil dingy and read the reviews about Nest and how it makes a four wire into 5. Had the adapter installed and everything is OK!

Add a wire is worthless
I bought this for our church. We are updating our thermostats and needed an additional "hot" wire. We tried our best to make this work, and finally gave up in frustration. We followed the instructions, but it just did not do what it was advertised to do. I would have returned it, but it was past the specified return time. Do not waste your money on this. We purchased a transformer that connects to a 110 volt receptacle and then runs a "hot" wire to the thermostat. This works fine and would have saved us some money, if we had done it to start with.

Works as expected
I purchased this in order to add a Nest thermostat in our lake house which has propane heat and central air. The existing system used 4 wires (RH, RC, Y, and G) and after installing the Nest I received a message that I didn't have power on any of the lines. Using this added the necessary C wire. Installation was a little different for me due to my setup but I was able to figure out the wiring in about 30 minutes...Great product!

This works great if you are short a wire on a furnace replacement.
Just installed a new high efficiency Payne furnace in my house and upgraded my Thermostat but the installer said we were short the sixth wire for the AC as the old furnace/Thermostat was only a 5 wire setup. He said he would have to run a new wire from the furnace through the wall to the thermostat which is quite a bit away from the furnace. This was going to take some time and money to do this so I did some research and found this solution to our wiring problem. The Venstar add a wire worked perfectly and was installed in about half an hour and the installer didn't need to run another wire.
