Is there a recommended maximum weight limit for the contents of this bag? We will need it to hold some heavy steel mounting parts.

I’m not sure about a maximum weight, but one of the strap buckles broke quite early on mine. But I repaired and shored up the strap with a couple of sturdy cable ties and the bag, which I like a lot, has served me very well.

Does this bag fit a laptop?

Yes - its a good sized bag- you will have to arrange things to allow for it but Lap Dog will fit inside.

Does the bag have a solid base

Ita solid enough, hard plastic I think, I've spilled hot water from a flask a few times into it as i use it as a lunch bag and it hasn't damaged it at all, unlike other bags with a hard cardboard base, this one is great. Not exactly big enough for loads of tools which is why I bought it as a lunch bag
