Having watched the anime, I decided I wanted to check out the My Hero Academia manga to see how it compares. And I have to say these first five volumes do not disappoint. Kohei Horikoshi creates an engaging, immersive narrative which draws clear inspiration from the mythology of American superhero comics interpreted through the worldbuilding lens of shonen manga like Naruto or One Piece.You're probably aware of the general plot if you're reading the reviews but the story of My Hero Academia takes place in a world where 80% of the population has a superpower, or Quirk. People who train to use their quirks to protect society are recognised as pro heroes and Izuku Midoriya's dream is to become a pro hero. However, he is one of the few people born without a Quirk and is humiliated by his peers for wishing to become a hero. When Izuku meets All Might, the number one hero in Japan and his idol, and tries to save his childhood friend and rival Katsuki Bagukou from a villain, he is offered the chance of being given the power to realise his dreams of heroism and enrol in the prestigious hero academy U.A. High.The author Kohei Horokoshi crafts a simple yet rich world in My Hero Academia. His characters are bold and larger than life. The stories are fun with a solid balance of humour, action and emotional character interactions. As for the art, it pops with dynamic action and adventure. Whilst the plot isn't the most complex, this issue is resolved later in the series as the story progresses. As an introduction to the series, My Hero Academia Volumes 1-5 is a treat for superhero and shonen fans alike.

Item arrived quickly and I got all 6 volumes as stated. Awesome story. Has elements similar elements to One Punch Man (superheroes and whatnots) but other than that, it is its own story. In terms of quality, it is like a typical VIZ quality. The cover is gloss finished and it's very colourful with an American comic cover concept. Looks good on the shelf.

Our granddaughter had on otge he books in this series on her birthday list. We checked with my son and she didn’t have any of this series so we ordered the complete set. She was so surprised and happy when she opened them and saw what they were. We got lots of hugs for our efforts which is the best payment any grandparents can get.

Good raed for kids

Got this for my girlfriend for her birthday and she loved them! Having the option to get them in a bundle was both convenient and good on my bank account.
