Having bought one for my wife to use at her piano and her finding it just what she needed I tried it with my guitar music and found it equally useful, so I bought a second for me.Fitting the 3 AA cells was easy; just open the back, pop them in then replace the back. I went for a unit which uses a replaceable battery rather than a built in rechargeable one because if the latter dies half way through a session then one has to wait to recharge, rather than half a minute to replace. Remember though this light does not come with a battery, so remember to make sure you have one when it arrives.Battery fitted, you’re ready to clip it to your music stand, which again is easy, and when fitted it feels pretty solid. My wife’s music stand is a simple wire frame (not foldable) stand which sits on a shelf above her keyboard. She finds a slight problem switching the light on and off in that the switch is on top of the base/battery unit and is concealed behind her music book. This actually is more of a problem with the music stand, which is shorter than most music stands. I have no such problem with my floor standing music stand; the base unit sits well above the music and the switch is easily accessible.The light has 2 brightness settings. We use the brighter setting. This makes a great deal of difference and is ideal for us. The dimmer setting is barely noticeable in the normal light of the room we play. It may be useful in a very dark situation, but we haven’t tried it.This actually results in the one minor design flaw we could see. The on/off switch cycles through the two brightness settings: on, maxim, minimum, off. One has to remember, when switching off, to press the button twice. It’s too easy to press once and then think it’s off, because it’s easy not to notice the light is still on. Were the cycle to be reversed then that situation should be virtually impossible.All in all though an excellent light for musicians. And us...

For so long I have considered buying a music stand light and cannot imagine anything doing the job as good as this one. The clip is sturdy, goose neck smooth to adjust, and the light very pleasing to the eye on either setting. Battery life good, and usb cable firm not flimsy. Highly recommended. On a more musical note, I am convinced that in a darkened room with just this light on the score, one's focus on practice is enhanced leading to more progress and a more satisfying experience in making music. The reflection of light from the score also illuminates your hands and instrument enough to glance that way if needed. Love it for playing Bach, especially on these Winter nights.

We purchased this light , as we asked to make a lecturn for a funeral business to display a very old bible. The light was a perfect fit, it gives it that lovely finishing touches, and it lights up the bible lovely so customers can view it .

I'm not a performing musician, so I don't need to take this to orchestra pits, but for piano playing, it works well. The light at the brighter setting is adequate, though the lower setting won't help much if the ambient light is already poor.Illumination is fairly even, and adjustability of the position of the light strip is good. Though it's no great inconvenience, I'd have like the on-off switch to be on lighting unit itself, so that I don't have to stretch behind the music rest to locate it. But that's not enough of a concern to knock off a star.Overall, it does what it's supposed to do, and I use it a lot.

Bought for partner to attach to music holder on a keyboard. It's a pity the on/off button isn't on the light itself though. Have to remove music from stand to switch on and off at the grip end. Partner happy with it despite this. I offered to send the item back to exchange but no, it's fine. 2 levels of light - just don't forget to click twice for bright on and then twice for off. Not sure yet about battery consumption - not had it long enough and it's been left on by mistake a couple of times (only clicked off bright once, instead of twice - user error).

The bright light which lights up both pages of a book makes reading piano sheet music a pleasure. Easy to keep plugged in all the time. I haven't tried the batteries.Looks good too.

Why on earth didn't I buy one of these years ago?! Playing the piano has been an absolute dream as I can now absolutely clearly see the music. It also comes with me when I'm playing early music in a nearby ( gloomy ) half-timbered house - BINGO! No more guessing what the notes are. Absolutely superb product, and I can't praise it highly enough.

A caveat - I have only turned these lights on to their various settings, but have NOT used them for long enough to speak for the battery life.That being said, I do have a quibble: the item on Amazon specified the wrong size of batteries; luckily I also had some of the correct size as well as the incorrect ones I ordered at the same time!Adide from that....seem to operate as described; nice and bright on the appropriate settings.
