I didn't get this to dye my hair, I have red hair, but mine is a significantly more unnatural shade of red and henna wouldn't keep that shade. I did get it for a dye like purpose though, henna can be used to dye clothes and to make pigment, I find henna lake pigment (a process that involves using a metal salt like Alum to precipitate a dye into a pigment) makes a beautiful watercolor the same color of some of the redder ochres, but more transparent since it is not crushed up rocks.The powder is very fine, probably some of the finest I have worked with, it made filtering a nightmare, but if you want to turn this into a paste for hair or for doing henna on skin then it is going to work wonderfully. Just a warning, there is no inner bag, so open it away from your face so you don't get a face full of henna dust!
