By 2025 all brake manufacturers in the United States must eliminate copper from their friction formulations in order to meet the California and Washington Proposition 65 regulations The legislation was enacted in 2010 due to claims by environmental regulators that as brake pads wear down copper and other materials are deposited on roadways and in parking lots and then washed into streams and rivers Too much copper in the water may damage marine and freshwater organisms such as fish and mollusks On the way to the 2025 rule the legislation requires brake manufacturers to switch their formulations to low-copper By 2021 copper content in friction must not exceed 5% Many friction manufacturers have been forced to start developing new formulations and test a number of different materials to match the characteristics of copper in order to meet the 2021 and 2025 deadline

Awesome Brake pads, very little dust, quiet!!!
I was a bit hesitant to stray from the dealer recommendation but they quoted $300 per axle and I took my business to Amazon. I have changed several brake pads in my day and right out of the box I could tell these were of good quality. There were no burrs or bent metal. All the parts were included. Took me less then an hour for both axles.I have about 10k miles on these pads and no issues. Very smooth, no noise, little to no dust, wearing evenly. One of the things I encourage people to do after installing these and any pads is to bring the car up to hwy speed and brake hard a couple of times. Brandishing the brakes removes the factory oils on the pads and rotors.

Box contained wrong pads, no hardware
I will update this review when the replacement arrives, as long as it is the correct part. I ordered front (CFC1378) and rear pads for my 2012 Honda Pilot, and Bendix's website confirms that part number CFC1378 is the correct part number for the front axle. I have changed brakes and rotors many times on this vehicle, as Pilots and Ridgelines eat brakes for breakfast. So I know what the pads should look like, and I know what the hardware looks like. While the box I received was marked CFC1378, it contained pads for another vehicle, including one pad that included a wear indicating wire harness (which is not used on Hondas), wear tabs in the wrong location, and no hardware or brake grease. I have re-ordered the part number in hopes that this is a one-time mistake, and that I receive the correct contents next time.

Love these pads
Friend who is service mgr. for large multi-line dealerships recommended these pads. Strong, quiet, comfortable, and would buy again. Only thing I found odd are the "spreader springs" that resemble twisted & bent paper clips to help keep them off the rotors until pedal is deployed. Somewhat difficult to install & keep in place to reseat the caliper. Other than that, I really like these.
