First unit was defective - second is perfect.
Pros: Good colours (the white is fairly close to actually white, rather than the blue or green tint from some cheaper ones). The remote control is useful, but I had a much cheaper light strip that used RF instead of IR - surely for this price Phillips could include that so you don't have to point the remote directly at the receiver.Cons: I really would rather that the plug be a regular size and have a power brick after a few inches of cable, rather than putting the massive chunky transformer in the plug itself. After a few minutes they got worryingly hot, and now my room smells of burnt plastic - this is probably my fault as they were still partly coiled up.The real con (and reason for my initially giving one star) is that the plastic coating completely peeled off. The top of the lights were stuck to the bottom of the ones under them in the spool and the plastic just disintegrated (some of it before I even opened the box). I don't know if this is because it's been improperly stored and exposed to thermal stress (repeated heating and cooling) or if it's just old (possibly both) or something else entirely, but this is completely unacceptable as it's not only coated my entire room with little sticky plastic granules, which I'm sure I'll be finding for weeks to come, but that the plastic acts as a diffuser to make the individual lights less spot-focused and this is now destroyed - all by simply taking it out of the box.I'm not saying don't buy this - in fact I'm going to order a replacement and hope that one is in useable condition. But if you start to uncoil your new lights and the plastic on top pulls apart, just send them back - don't bother opening them, it's not worth the hassle.EDIT: after receiving a replacement (the next day - thanks Amazon) I got to see just how good these lights are and have increased my rating accordingly. Fantastic brightness and colour with a nice and simple remote control. The perfect solution to low-profile dynamic bedroom lighting.

warehouse bargain cheap alexa bodge!!!
well having got this 1m strip from amazon warehouse for just 7 quid I can only say its would be quite short for modern day tv s, but only though choice having a 34" one its just the job, received as new really so it was fitted in no time, really pleased with the colours nothing over the top and have set it permently on one of the blue shades so its calming, I have it connected though a smart plug to alexa so it is easy to control on and off. I don't know if I would have paid the full price for this as it was only the cheapness and fact it always starts were it was switched off that got me thinking what I could make of it. here's hoping it lasts.

Doesn’t stay stuck in vertical orientation
It’s okay. Adds some colour to the room. But boy does it CONSTANTLY come away from the side of the unit I stuck it too (see pictured, see how it’s also lifted a bit further down, it does this down the whole length ), I have to run my finger up and down it sticking it back on daily. I guess the adhesive just isn’t made for supporting the weight of the whole strip vertically, which is a shame. I’d say only buy if you’re mounting horizontally, so that gravity isn’t as much of an enemy. The rubber coating also seems to react with skin oils over time and rot away which is a problem if you’re touching it daily to stick it back on.Cheap and cheerful as a whole - the Hue ones are probably a lot better.

Wow love this
I was expecting much to be honest for £15 , but this is amazing, I’ve a dark storage area in my flat that doesn’t have a light but has a power socket. This is perfect , comes with power supply 5m of led self adhesive strip and a remote to change colour etc, you can have all sorts of colour , strobe etc, but I’ve just got mine on plain white. Very pleased looking to buy another one for Xmas , would be great for a party with the lighting effects !Just updating this a few days later the self adhesive hasn't worked and the lights have fallen down in parts. Will have to find something else to stick the lights back up!

Don’t waste your money.
Misleading description. The led strip itself was not 1 metre long. Bought two of these and both were the same. But seeing as I could make do I proceeded to set them up. Well the 30 colours is a stretch. It’s more like 8 with degrees of brightness on each colour. And then comes the adhesion. Set it up after work and when I woke up in the morning they had both fallen down despite preparing the area to make sure it was a good clean surface. Both went straight in the bin.I honestly wouldn’t waste your money.

Value for money
The Phillips colour changing LED Light strip, is a fantastic way to add ambient lighting to any room, and at an affordable price. I have paid for the Phillips hue, wireless white & colour lightstrip plus & 1m extension strips, for my living room, and the only difference between them is that the hue set can be controlled by your smartphone & can be set to come on at your preferred times.Whereas the myliving set is controlled by remote, but you do get a lot more for your money, this set is going in my bedroom,If I had noticed this set before I had bought the Phillips hue set, I might off used it in my living room as well ?.

Good, bright, easy to install
This is the simple version of Philips strip lighting, but at just over £5 for a bright, long-lasting LED strip light with plug and integrated switch, there's nothing to argue about. The light is bright and effective. The output is a bit 'cooler' in colour than I had expected from the rather yellowy light shown in the product photos, but I actually prefer the brighter white. Easy to use, can be cut to length, and hard-wired if wished.
