Best Form of Calcium at a Fair Price; As Good as Any
This seems to be a perfectly acceptable product. I actually purchased it for my puppies because growing puppies, like growing children, need lots of calcium. I haven’t taken it myself.I cannot speak to the purity of this product since I do not have the necessary laboratory equipment to analyze it, but it seems fine and is competitively priced. Like all powdered calcium, it’s very powdery and does tend to get all over everything so handle it carefully! Also, the fact that it has no flavor makes it easy to give to the puppies: I simply mix it with their food and they don’t seem to notice it at all.The only change that I would recommend would be to package the product in an airtight plastic bottle rather than in a plastic bag. This would make it easier to store and use, and would be neater. Of course, one could always transfer the calcium citrate to another container (carefully, so you don’t make a mess!).I do prefer calcium citrate to other forms of supplemental calcium. Even though it is less concentrated than calcium carbonate (you have to use more citrate than carbonate to get the same amount of calcium), it is more easily absorbed and does not cause the gastro-intestinal issues that calcium carbonate can cause. It doesn’t have the contamination that you can find in bone meal and dolomite either. As a matter of fact, calcium citrate and calcium lactate are the only forms of calcium that I would use or recommend to others.

Very Easy to Use -- Good Value
I prefer powders to capsules, allows me to add this to yogurt or juice, oatmeal, whatever. It's not terribly grainy, well milled to a fine powder, but not so fine that it flies everywhere. The citrated form is more readily absorbed by the body. I don't get a lot of natural calcium from my diet as I'm lactose intolerant, and I don't drink fortified juices or drinks so this is an important way to supplement. Best if 500 mg taken in the morning and 500 mg taken mid-day (lunch). That way you can take your magnesium in the evening; calcium and magnesium should not be taken together as absorption is impaired. I find most Bulk Supplements of good quality and value.

Economical and simple supplement!
As a bariatric patient who has to take calcium citrate each day, I was discouraged that my only choices appeared to be several large pills a day or high prices chewables. I was thrilled to find this supplement in such a pure and economical way! It's easy to take, 3/4 tsp twice a day. I just mix it with a small amount of liquid and either sip it or down it like a shot! I find that it is easy to take with sugar free hot chocolate, but it's also great with some Diet Ocean Spray cranberry lemonade. It has a hint of gritty/powdery texture, but nothing unappealing. If I'm sipping, I just stir frequently between drinks to avoid a layer that's settled at the bottom. This supplement has completely saved my sanity! It is also going to last me about 7 months for less than the cost of a 1 month supply of the bariatric chewables. I'm a big fan of saving money on my required supplements!

A controversial product but from a good company.
Powdered supplements, consumed when dissolved in water, are easy to swallow, and well absorbed. The four-star rating, which applies to ALL supplements in Ziplock-like bags says that after multiple open/close operations, one side of the closure strip peels from the aluminized bag lining. I then need to close the bag with a spring clip or place it in a freezer bag. NO vendor tries to correct that. The neutral recommendation regarding "absorbency" stems from most people already absorbing dietary calcium so effectively.Calcium citrate, recommended by my wife's physician, is rarely needed. Most people get enough calcium from their diet as long as they have sufficient blood levels of vitamin D. Indeed, many absorb excesses.Calcium supplements are an easy recommendation for patients with osteopenia even though they are not effective at all for that condition. I purchased this product for reasons of family politics. If one needs calcium, citrate IS superior to tablets containing calcium carbonate. The carbonate is less absorbed by older consumers who lack sufficient stomach acid. Others with acid reflux or inflammation from excess acid already chew antacid lozenges based on calcium carbonate "i.e. Tums". Those might already deliver an excess. That is where I differ from the physician. EVERYONE needs to read current medical research before recommending or consuming supplements.
