arrived in perfect condition, works great. The very first time it takes a very long time to warm up, several hours. after that it an be hot within 20-30 min. The base gets a little hot, best to put on a ceramic plate or something. It's quite tall, so needs to be put out of reach of cats, kids, wind etc. Wonderful colors, my son loves it!

I wrote up a very long detailed review which addressed pretty much every common issue that other reviews had, but Amazon rejected it. So here's the short version.I've got about 60 hours on this lamp and so far it works great. My glass is not damaged, the lamp doesn't appear to be used, the wax rises and falls properly, it hasn't exploded, etc. It just works perfectly and the color is gorgeous.The only problem I had is that the bulb that it shipped with only lasted 3 hours. Some people have recommended replacing it with a 35 or 40 watt bulb, but I would not recommend that. I replaced it with another 25 watt bulb and the wax cycles perfectly. I think a hotter bulb would just make the wax overheat and clump up at the top of the bottle. Either way, make sure you have some spare bulbs when you order this.

Unfortunately, this lamp has a few issues. First off, the liquid is actually a dark teal color. Not blue, as in description, even says teal on the box! Second, it kinda flows. It'll get Stu at top for awhile, form bigger balls, then maybe drop. The wax color seems off. At the bottom towards the bulb it looks purple, but as it gets going. It looks like an off grey color. So, it's barely watchable, because the wax is hard to see. The wax also starts forming holes, like you get in a wall! I could even see thru some of them! Then some of the wax started turning clear as if you're blowing soap bubbles! This isn't normal lava lamp behavior. I know, I have a few vintage lamps that flow flawlessly! So, sadly, I'm returning this Schylling, made in China. I read old online posts not to try them, as others were asking if they were any good. Well, for me , they weren't. The base of the lamp was a cool idea, but in reality. It's too dark to enjoy. The picture they show here, in description is way brighter than it actually looks! The lamp was however, well packed, and even the bulb. The bulb worked right out of the box! A lot of reviews said theirs didn't. Sadly, this is getting returned.

Let me tell you, this thing is a straight-up beauty—like, ‘stop traffic and drop jaws’ gorgeous. It’s got that look that'll make even your reflection pause and think, “Damn, who brought the glam?” Totally original, clearly high-quality, and I’m satisfied—no fine print, no hidden trap. Just pure prettiness.But here’s the thing: it could really use an extra dose of sparkle. Imagine if it glowed a bit more—call it the difference between dazzling and downright hypnotic. As is, it’s beautiful... but, come on, turning the shine dial up a notch would’ve made it legendary.

Ah, the original lava lamp! The original and the best. This particular unit is known as Aurora Borealis and at first I thought that was referencing the base of the unit because it is colored differently than I've seen before, kind of a swirl pattern. The magic however is what happens in a dark room when the lava lamp is operational. This particular combination of fluid color and "lava" color produces effects on the walls that mimic the Aurora Borealis. Very interesting looking lava as it seems to change color somewhat and by doing that it shoots bright beams if you will of green color onto the walls in an ever-changing pattern just like the Aurora. I've always loved lava lamps but this particular combination of fluid and wax offers a truly hypnotic effect in a dark room. To truly enjoy the effect to its fullest the room must be absolutely dark. Place the lamp about 6 in from the wall to enhance the effect. This one will not disappoint!

I have wanted a lava lamp since the 1970s when my aunt had one and I watched it all day and night, This is by far the coolest one I have ever seen. The price was what always kept me from getting one. BUT I had a gift card so I treated myself. #1 amazon delivery person THREW it or DROPPED it right over my fence and left it on the concrete by my gate of my busy street. Um the porch with a hidden railing is 6 feet from an old fashioned easy to open gate! I mean come on ppl. I got it in excited and hoped it wasnt broken. THee coil was upside down. omg. it would not flip over and i gently tried according to the internet search to tip it ever so slightly to the side very little. NOPE not wanting to damage it or mess up my flow i put in bulb and plugged it in. SHORTED OUT right away. I tried to screw bulb in a bit more, then fiddled with the on of toggle then it worked, however it shorted out again about 1 hour later and the lava never properly flowed.It is too beautiful with the exact lava colors I have only dreamed of So i returned and reordered,. UPS did not want to return it without a box even though they did not ship in any amazon packaging as i requested. so that was a bit of a hassle. Girl was cool about tho and an old lady gave me her used box. New one came in perfect delivery sill not in amazon packaging as i requested , came in just the box its in again. So I take it out excited that this is going to be the one. .. The lava and coil were upside down again. Following the tutorials again, I managed ever so gently to persuade it to flip on its own.I is day 2 or 3 and its going well. I have had it on twice letting it settle over night.Lava is a bit murky still but I can live with it!

Love the lamp but it was shipped in a thin paper bag. The box that the lamp was in was bent. This is a fragile glass item. Should have been in a sturdy box.

I bought this Lava Lamp as a gift for my granddaughter. She absolutely loves it. I was able to choose one that matches her room decor. It looks really cool in there. I plan on purchasing more of these to use as gifts. I'll probably get one for myself also!
