Great Blender, Sweet Deal
After three weeks of using this blender every morning, I still haven't encountered one thing to dampen my enjoyment with our newest and best appliance. It's a great blender, the best we've ever had, there's no doubt about it.Every morning, it turns two scoops whey protein powder, one teaspoon Vitamin C-1000 powder, one cup Greek yoghurt, one cup fresh kale, two inches of fresh ginger, three fresh fruits, 1.5 cup organic soy milk, and a dollop of organic honey into two 24-ounce shakes in no more than a few minutes. The base is light but gives off a solid feel. The canister sits firmly on the base without being twisted. The blender stays in one place while doing its job without the need for a human's hand holding on to the lid. The canister has pretty large capacity, with plenty of room leftover even with our 48 ounces of shakes in it. The cleaning is easy, we do it sometimes by hand without ever touching the blades and sometimes by blending soapy water.I haven't used the tamper yet so I can't talk about its function.Other reviewers mentioned this blender's biggest negative point: its height. They said it doesn't fit under the cabinets and has to take up space on the counters or cupboards. I'm fortunate that the bottom of our cabinet is 2.5 inches higher than the height of the both blender and base, so the whole thing can be tucked away without a slightest problem.I selected the charcoal grey colour which was $118 less than the red. I could have saved even more had I choose hot pink but I could not live with that colour. The price made this blender more than a great appliance, it's also a sweet deal that I couldn't pass up.The prices of all colours do not stay the same every day, however. Two days before I placed my order, the price of the grey was $17 less, and while another reviewer paid $30 less than I did for the same colour, today's price is $60 more than what I paid 6 weeks ago. The roller coaster of pricing for the same item of the same colour is very disconcerting.

I'm sold.
This blender is just what I needed. It blends really well and completely if left to blend long enough. It's a bit loud, but aren't all blenders? Otherwise it's very sturdy, easy to clean, and effective. So far I've made smoothies with frozen fruit, ice, vegetables and seeds, and everything blended reall well. I love it!

UPDATE: Value for the price paid for a couple of years
UPDATE: 31 MAR 2020: I am writing this after a year of it setting on my counter not being used. Somewhere after two years the bearings in the pitcher siezed. I used the blender primarily in the mornings on average 5 of 7 days per week. I cleaned it everyday, though some mornings I would let it soak during the day. The disspointing thing about all this is that you cannot buy a replacement pitcher anywhere without going through the hassle of going through the manufacturer. I dont have the patience for that. I have though, mostly curiosity got the better of me, taken the blade assembly apart. The bearings were not high end sealed bearings. For the reason of not having the ability to buy a replacement pitcher assembly, I have reduced my rating from 5 to 4 stars. I did get good and happy use for the two years or so. I will buy a vitamix for my next blender thoughI have done a fair amount of research into what is the best value of blender for the cost. I was happy to find that Salton had a very comparable blender to that of Vitamix blenders. I have had the blender for about a month now and use it at least once a day and I am quite pleased with the results. Blueberries, no problem, strawberries, no problem. Raspberries leave a small remnant of the seeds but not like the cheaper one I had. I have blended up kale, spinach, mint, hemp seeds and just about every frozen fruit available. One blend of pinapple left longer than desirable fiber strands, but again nothing like the $40 one. I have read the reviews in Amazon about this blender and I have not experienced any of the other folks woes. I would recommend this blender still over Refab vitamixes on the performance vs the dollar outlay.

it blends everything so nice and smooth
This blender is a monster, it blends everything so nice and smooth, I haven’t tried it with ice so idk about that but it’s a very good value. Can make really creamy milkshakes, soups, sauces etc. Really really like it.

Strong blending and ice grinding power
It works really well even when blending lots of ice and frozen berries. I definitely recommend!

Not as efficient as expected
We received this blender exactly one week ago and have used it only about 10-12 times. We ordered this blender instead of a VitaMix because it was half the price, plus we are using recipes from Harly Pasernak's book. From the reviews we read, we thought this blender would meet our needs, but we were wrong. It clogs when blending almonds, seeds and heavily-seeded fruit (raspberries in particular). No amount of unclogging will completely free the trapped particles, and eventually the lid starts rising and the base starts moving on the counter. Even though it's supposed to handle these foods, it is not powerful enough to do so. It is fine with other foods, but that is not good enough, so I will be returning this ASAP.

So far so good
To this point the unit has been as advertised. Smoothies and soup works great. Haven't tried ice cream yet but if it does as well on it as everything else will earn a five star. Large well built solid unit. Not too loud. Like it.
