Perfect for Hobbies
This magnetic stirrer does exactly what I expected it to. It's compact, simple to use and functions exactly as expected. The magnetic 'bar' that came with it (its more like a capsule) is small enough to fit into just about any vessel I'd want to mix in, but the size of it does mean its prone to spinning out of alignment and losing its magnetic pull with the motor inside the base. It's still a great purchase, especially for the price and ease of use. I'd suggest shipping it with mutiple stir bars tocthe seller and to the buyer, I'd suggest buying a variety of stir bars until then.

It works.
I use this for liquid cultures. It works just fine with little to no noise. I use predominantly use 10oz mason jars which fit perfectly. It can go from slow to maelstrom with a small turn of the dial. I have no complaints so far, if I do have issues I will update this.

Weak magnets, but only $20
It seems that everybody working with liquid cultures owns at least one of these. For $20 it’s hard to find a basic store plate with better reviews. That said, my experience is mixed. The price is right, sure, but the magnets are weak. Trying to get a 30mm stir bar centered and spinning in a quart size Mason jar is a challenge. The bar tends to get thrown to the side and stuck in the ditch perimeter of the slightly convex interior. If the speed is ramped up too much it’s thrown off center and back into the ditch. Once centered and spinning at a low to moderate speed, it works well enough. I plan to try stir bars with a center spin ring to see if that helps. Compared to my Lab House hot/stir plate this is far inferior. Granted the other cost 3X more. I’d give it 2-3 stars based on performance alone, but for $20 I’ll be generous with 4 stars. YMMV

Works well and saves time mixing shellac flakes and alcohol.
Works very well for mixing shellac.

This does exactly what you need it to do at a fair price
I am very pleased, here's why:- Speed control is smooth from a very slow speed all the way to super turbo speed and easy to control. I'm impressed with the quality of the dial and adjustability.- Seems to have a strong magnet, easy to catch the spinner in the jar- Light weight, compact, easy to store, fits up to a 5" diameter flask or jar without hanging over the edge.- I have used it a hundred times without any issues.Bottom line, this is a no brainer purchase for mycology or lab work, I would definitely choose this same one again.

It works
Nothing much here. It does what its supposed to do. I use a 1000ml glass beaker. No issues. Would be nice to come with a few more rods but the price is cheap so no complaints. It can handle some thicker substances.

Unreliable and low quality.
I have had 2 of these so far and both get very little use. I am very careful and respect equipment. Bit have failed in less than one year with only sporadic careful use. These are low grade products that are completely unreliable. Do not waste your money.
