I bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband and it is amazing for people who love to cook. We shred our own cheese a lot and this has been a GAME CHANGER. So easy to attach to your kitchen aid and operate the shredder. It has saved so many cuts from using a hand held grater. We also use it for potatoes when making hashbrowns. You get three inside attachments for shredding sizes. Very easy to take apart and clean. Truly love this item.I was mistakenly sent the wrong item when I ordered originally and it was quickly re-ordered and I was shipped the right item. I know it was busy during holiday season when I ordered so I appreciate the quickness in customer support from Amazon for the wrong item shipped.

Our family adores cheese! We layer it in casseroles, top it with Panko crumbs, sprinkle it on scrambled eggs, add it to blender sauces, and so much more. One thing we learned in all this is to grate it ourselves. Store bought shredded cheese has anit-caking agents like cornstarch to keep it from clumping but that interferes with a lot of recipes (like Mac & Cheese). We have the biggest KitchenAid mixer available for home use so we got to work.The grating attachment blade works extremely well especially for medium to hard cheeses. My husband is contantly overdoing the amount because it is so fun to use. Big batches of shredded potatoes are a breeze. We set a pot full of salted ice water underneath the opening and shred right into it. Afterward, it is simple to drain and blot dry for use in hash brown recipes on our outdoor griddle. YUM!Uniform slicing for large casseroles is a delight. Same process with salted water. Drain, dry, and then layer them easily for Scalloped Cheesy Potatoes. This also works on our older, smaller KA mixer. I love the brand because it is sturdy and powerful.

I bought this to grate Parmesan cheese (and other cheeses) finely. After overcoming some operator errors, it works really well, with almost-zero mess, unlike the manual countertop cheese grinder I had purchased a few months before which was both clumsy and messy. And let’s not even talk about trying to finely-grind a huge hunk of Parmesan cheese with the box grater and the Kevlar glove! Cheese can seem to be a little stuck while grinding, but I’ve learned to let it run for a few seconds and it will dislodge itself…or it’s very easy to dislodge with a soft push from a kitchen knife. I really like that I can just leave the “attachment housing” on the mixer between uses. And if I also leave in the fine grating cylinder that I use most often (for said cheese), the other parts store in the KA bowl along with my balloon whisk and dough hook! Any bowl can be used to receive the cheese, so those parts just stay in the KA bowl while I grind into another bowl. It’s also very well-designed to help protect against accidental finger injury. The attachment housing hand-washes effortlessly. The slicing cylinders are easy to pre-clean by using a brush to remove cheese, and then go into the dishwasher. I’m very happy that I splurged to buy this attachment!

For a family who grates a lot of cheese, I would recommend this. It is easy to use and does a good job by grating fresh cheese.My only complaint is that a small amount of cheese will get stuck on the outer wall and will not grate. This is not a deal breaker but a minor issue. I do not mind the cleanup, but you cannot run in the dishwasher and must clean by hand. It is not recommended to run underneath the faucet.

We use this for shredding hard cheeses, works nicely and cleans up easy.

If you're thinking about buying this, DO IT.I had been wanting it for a while but waited until my rotary grater broke to finally purchase it, and honestly I wish I had just done it sooner! It's so much easier and takes almost effort on my part. It's not quite as fast as those rotary graters where you spin it yourself, but again, this is significantly less effort than those. If you're someone who uses fresh shredded cheese often, it is 100% worth purchasing.The only issue I've had is occasionally some cheese getting stuck in between the grater and the piece that holds it, but that's a price I'm willing to pay for the overall convenience of this. I've had it for a few months now and it's held up very well with regular use. It's much safer than regular graters and thanks to the pieces you use to push the cheese down with, there's no having to worry about sliced fingers.Overall this is just a very good product and worth every penny. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is thinking about purchasing!

I have been using an off brand one of these from Amazon the past two years that worked ok, but it actually shredded plastic shavings the first few times I used it. This one did NOT do that so that’s a huge positive. My husband put the housing to that one in the dishwasher and it broke so I thought to try this one now instead. It definitely feels higher quality than the last. Yes the cheese does gum up but maybe freezing it beforehand could help. It’s really not a deal breaker for me bc it happened with the last one too. Depends on the cheese. I think these things are soooo worth it vs hand grating. The only con I have is that I do not like the double pusher thing. I understand it could be nice for carrots but I’d rather there be a totally separate one for that. I don’t like cleaning multiple things. All in all I think it’s amazing though.
