We have moved three time in the last 18 months. The first time we purchased carpet film from the local big box home improvement store. It was 3 mil thick, 24 in. wide, as that was the widest they had available and was like trying to cover our carpet with the plastic wrap you use in the kitchen. Its also took two passes to cover the carpet which took a lot of product and being so thin tore easily and did not last through the moving process. In contrast this film is 7 mil thick and 36” wide. We used it for our counter update and so it was on our stairs for 14 days, with no tears, great coverage and when it came time to remove came off leaving no residue and the carpets looked just like they did before we rolled it on, freshly vacuumed. At 200’ there was plenty to do both flights of stairs, both for the remodel and moving as well as the stairs in the house we moved into.An excellent product, with no bad smell. We vacuumed the carpet with a hand-held Dyson and then we rolled the film out starting at the top landing with one person rolling out the film, also responsible for keeping it centered and the other applying and smoothing over the nosing, down to cover the riser apnd onto the top of and covering the next tread. At each turn we rolled to the wall, cut and then repositioned and started down again. Since our stairs were 44” wide it left 4” on either side completely covering the main walking path.

I cannot understand the good reviews here unless there is some professional roller dispenser that I needed to order. It was sticky on one one which I was not expecting and stuck so bad, like think of your worst saran wrap nightmare...there is just not way to get close to corners or keep it from wrinkling and heck to get it straight--and I am talking first line, not even the five more I had to do.Also it is NOT any thick gauge. I need to just get clear 5 ml or higher painters to staple gun in corners (this is what I thought this was) and I had two other women helping me. It was like that game TWISTER where you all step on dots and step over each other to hold stuff down and even THAT did not work.

Worked well once we got the hang of it. Stuck to the carpet and didn't come off until we were ready. Once we were ready, it came up easy with very little effort. We left it down about 1 week. It survived movers, a cat, a dog, and kids without tearing. Our movers said they really liked it and thought they should order some to offer with their services.

Terrible product! It doesn’t peel off the roll easily, nor does it adhere to the carpet! What a waste!!!!

Works as it should. Starting was difficult like others have said but the product worked great. We moved into a house with lighter carpets in December with snow on the ground outside and it worked well to help protect the carpet from the dirty movers shoes. There where stairs to all the bedrooms ans it took some time to put it on the stirs but it was worth it. We got some of it on the hard wood floor and it left some residue we had to steam mop it off to get it off. Overall it a good product.

I bought this carpet film to use in my RV to help protect the carpets while we are camping. With a large dog and two young children, there's an awful lot of dirt and debris that gets tracked in to the RV over the course of a weekend.The film works well and the 36" width is a plus. I've had the 24" rolls in the past and it requires me to do two or three strips in some areas. The 36" just requires one main strip down the middle. It sticks to both carpet and linoleum flooring.Getting the cover "started" and then unrolling it is a bit awkward, and I have yet to figure out a foolproof way to do it. I can't really blame the product for my own clumsiness.Overall it works good as a temporary cover. It lasts for a couple of uses, and then there is plenty on the roll to just replace what is put down. It also is easy to clean with a swiffer-type mop. I do wish the plastic was a little thicker so it would last longer, but overall it's a good price and keeps the carpet underneath clean, and that's the goal here.

Pricey, but well worth the protection for a home full of new carpet! I appreciated the strength and thickness of this item. It was also 36" wide, thus protecting most of the walkways, stairs and hallways widths I used it on. It came off most easily on Berber carpet, fairly well on plush carpet and came off with a little more pulling on a very soft medium height living room carpet. I would recommend following the directions and taking it off after 3 days so as to not have any problem with it. I had more than I needed for sure, including some to sell to future movers that might buy my used boxes! Would buy it again or recommend it to protect your new carpet in the move or when service people are coming to work in your house for a project.

We bought a new house and wanted to protect the carpet fitting the move. The adhesive is very strong and the plastic is thick.My advice is to buy 2 rollls. We ran out of our 1 roll and I harmed to buy another from uhaul at twice the price
