Does this work for cardinals constantly banging windows?

Yes - but don’t put it on your house - it is clear out the tube but it will get dirty fast and you can’t get it clean

I tried to remove it from a bird's wings and body without success.

Yes - will work for any birds - only negative is it is clear when you apply it but it will turn to a dirty color after a few weeks and it is impossible to remove unless it is a smooth surface

If a bird lands on gel, will the bird get stuck and not be able to fly?

Actually a pigeon did get stuck in the gel on my balcony. Fortunately I have a neighbor who unlike me, was unafraid to gently free the bird, who was them able to fly away. But except for that incident, I found the gel to be an effective deterrent. The year before, a pigeon built a nest on my balcony. I didn’t have the heart to disrupt it, but I didn’t exactly send out invitations to the pigeon community to come on back. I think the gel did the trick!
