Great for astrophotography!
It's compact and and works well for astronomy. I like this headlamp because it has a low profile and is less likely to get caught up on my telescope as I peer through it's eyepiece. But most of all, the red lamp works well and once you cycle it into "red" mode - as long as you leave it alone after that - a quick push of the button turns it off. To turn it on again, you just press the button and the red mode is remembered.I don't really like that if you don't get the timing right - you try to turn it off sooner than four seconds...that it instead changes modes to white. That's a minor annoyance and way better than other headlamps that cycle through the other modes no matter what! But you know what would be even better? Just give me a real hardware switch! A slide switch. One way is white, the other red and the middle off. Genius! I don't know why I must think of these things myself! In any case, the headlamp works well for astronomy and its quite inexpensive. I'm going to get some spares.

Incorrect SOS code.
Love this device. However, the morse code for SOS is not correct on my unit. It has 4 dots, 2 dashes, and 3 dots. HMS.

Used for flying helicopter at night
Night in the hopes that it would work too see my charts at night in the helicopter cockpit without blinding me.I bought two different head lamps and I prefer this one for flying. It isn't so bright that it would reflect off of the wind screen, but illuminates my charts. It also cycles directly to the last mode of you used that mode for more than a few seconds (e.g. goes directly to red without having to pass through several white options).Battery life on red lasts at least 8 hours (more, I believe). The plastic hinge is expected to eventually fail like all of my other head lamps, but this one doesn't swing down too far, so it may still be useable, even when that happens. In fact, I could wish that it would aim down more, if it weren't for this anticipated failure.

Work great. Love these!
We use these to put our chickens to bed at night and count them to make sure they all made it in. It allows enough light with the red light to see without disturbing them too much. If we use the white light they are starting freaking out 🤣
