It works
I wish this thing had:a power button (yes, it will stay on the entire time you operate your vehicle) the suggestion from Alpine tech support was to add a switch and splice it into the power somewhere, which is I guess doable but an added cost and headache for everyonedidn't need to activate the parking brake in order to access the system menus or "more complicated" controls. This is done as a safety feature, or most likely to cover them from legal issues. They use a double-pulse signal to deter users from trying to hack it but it can be done (reportedly).Otherwise it sounds pretty good and the UI is fast and responsive. Don't have any experience with the AA, but on CarPlay works flawlessly. In my NSX the common complaint is glare issues for people that upgrade their stereos, but since this thing has a good range for tilting it is never a problem. It does cover up the climate controls but there is an AUTO setting so I dial in whatever's comfy and just let it sit there. If I need to adjust, tilt the screen forward dial in the new setting and put it back. Simple.Overall, 4 stars, gonna have to take one off for the issues described above.

Good quality radio
The media could not be loaded. The possibilities are endless what you can do with this radio. As you can see I added a firestick !!!

Way overpriced for the offered features
First the good things:- Sound quality is good, yes- Touchscreen is nappy and UI feels fast- works with the idatalink maestro rr2Now to the bad list:- No internal memory to save music!!! Only USB or Bluetooth or Carplay/Android Auto. It is ridiculous, if you want to use your android auto you have to unplug the USB and plug in the cable of your phone. As it only has one USB port you constantly have to deal with this! This by far the biggest annoying thing about this unit- No search UI for Music!!! It will not even use the folder structure you have on the USB. I have setup folders by artists and then the albums in it. The UI only shows the albums, there is NO way to change the view from artist to albums or even just folder structure! Common Alpine this is just devastating, a 14 year old script kiddy could have done better!- Not possible to change the color of the buttons. Hey Alpine my 15year old Apine 1Din Unit was even able to do that why not this way overpriced piece of junk?- The installation procedure with that screen mount is the worst I've ever seen! And I installed dozens of head units over the years. Prepare yourself for some really heavy breathing and swearing and the feeling of ripping that crap apart and throw 900$ into the garbage. It is almost impossible to screw in the top 4 screws to attach the screen to the headunit. Especially if your console is slightly recessed, but really just slightly. So you can move the mount 2 positions. Fully in or fully out (also by unscrewing 4 annoying screws which can fall into the device!! happened to me!) 2 Positions only.... I dont't know what the engineers were thinking. This should have been a snap into place mount instead of having to screw it on.- Powerplate, really?!? What the heck (if you installed one, you will understand)- The cooling fan is audible even mounted into the car. Why does it have to run even when cold. It was 3°C outside this morning. Turn the ignition on and you already hear it running, why???- Screen is only 800x480 and you sadly can really see that everywhere- Graphical EQ start at 250hz?!?! What the heck, where can I change the real bass settings? I have a factory AMP and System I want to tune all of it.Fazit: I replaced my Eonon 10,1" Android Head Unit because of the lacking OEM amp integration. I had an AXXESS unit and SWC decoder but the sound was getting worse of the years. So I thought it was the "cheaper" Eonon headunit but I was wrong. It was the Axxess unit. And as the idatalink maestro rr2 promised to retain all the factory amp system I ordered this and the Alpine F409 unit.Looking back now the Alpine Unit was the most wasted money I ever spent. Compared to Eonon device it is just a piece of junk. The Eonon Device even has a great parametric EQ which worked flawlessly it even has a DSP built-in. GPS, WLAN, Bluetooth 5, adjustable viewing angle Display with easy mounting! Has an SD card slot and USB inputs etc. It only costs 400$ and not 900$. So my best advise is, if you are like me and want to have all the options, stay away from Alpine units. Especially the ILX-F09. With the Maestro RR2 Harness and this device I'm in with more than 1000$ (inkl. taxes and shipping to Switzerland).

Screen resolution. 480p? Are you kidding me?
I just had one of these units installed. I decided to upgrade my existing system mainly to use Apple Car Play. The sound on the unit is great but I can not live with a 480p screen resolution. I wanted this unit mainly to use GPS navigation from my iPhone. Well, the screen is so washed out it is hard to see the maps during the day. The unit looks like an outdated electronic device due to the horrible resolution. I schedule an appointment with the stereo guy to take it out. No way Jose!

Curb your enthusiasm
It's nice but I think it should be more for the price. A stand alone navigation system would be nice. Digital radio would be nice also. This is the Alpine ILX-F409 not the ILX-F309. The later cost less bus actually had more features. I pared mine with the Alpine power pack amplifier. It a solid combination. The head unit looks nice and definitely looked better than the entry level Uconnect that came in my Jeep. The Android auto connection can be temperamental at times. The bottom line that I like it but I'm not blown away.Update: The fm receiver is weak. It won't pick up local radio stations. I was told that I needed a signal booster.
