There are butane burners (which are sometimes used indoors), flameless heaters (you just add water) and Espet stoves (can be used indoors). How does this food need to be stored? I live in Florida, is the garage ok?

Yes, the garage is probably OK. For the pouches to taste good after 25 years, Mountain House recommends storing at 70 degrees or cooler. However, if you are going to use them in a year or two, the garage should be just fine. Thanks for your interest! Jim

to clarify: Does a 3-day kit with 18 meals cover 1 person OR 2 people, as they share each packet? If 2, does each person get 1700 calories?

Most if not all packets do have two servings in them. If you look at the pic on Amazon the packets say 2 servings. Now their two servings are not high they give you the serving size on the packets too. Not sure about the calories but would guess they are 1700 each. I would suggest opening one and eating it and see how it goes. I have eaten them for years and they work for the wife and I but we usually of lots of trail snacks too during the day.

Does this kit come with utensils? Spoon or fork?
