Make no mistake - it takes strength to crimp the connectors, but this tool does it right.
Does a really good job. Used it to attach 20 ga stranded wire to spade lug connectors. I wasn't prepared for how much strength it took to do the crimping, but the device is "ratcheted" so if you pause you can continue on until the crimp is done.I remember the cheap stamped crimping tools were easier to use, but when you compare the quality and ruggedness of the crimp, it's easy to see how much more robust this tool makes the attachment of the wire to the lug.One thing I noted - when you think you are all crimped, if the tool hasn't gone "over center" you're not done. By "over center" I mean that after applying a lot of force to close the jaws, the tool suddenly gets much easier to press and the handles come together completely. Up until that point you haven't finished the crimp. For verification, I used an ohmmeter to check the connection; not only are the lugs well attached to the wire with a little pull-test, they are electrically good as well. No one wants to be searching all over for a bad connection, or have one of the lugs come loose from the wire when you put a little strain on them.I haven't tried connecting larger wire so I can't say how much pressure would be required; the 16ga to 22ga part of the jaws is on the outermost part of the tool, so it may well require the most effort to use.So while I was surprised by the work it takes to use this tool, I have decided that is due to the thicker jaws making a broader crimp, compared to the cheap sheet-metal crimpers, resulting in a very good connection. For that I give the tool five stars.

Nice crimper
The crimp tool is high quality. The jaws are fastened to the crimper by two Phillips screws. There is a spare set of screws but no screwdriver. There is a more recent version of this crimper where the jaws are held to the crimper by spring loaded buttons. Because some Amazon reviewers reported some problems with the spring loaded buttons, I opted for the screw based design. The user should note there are jaws for heat shrink type connectors and different jaws for non-heat shrink type connectors. The jaw sets stamped A, B, C, etc. so if mixed up there are easy to pair to each. There are two jaws to each set.Be careful to align the crimping surface to the part of the connector that collapses. You may want to practice on scrap wire before your finished product.I was impressed by the fit and feel of the crimper. The case is also nice.

Create "factory finish" crimps every time!
Wire crimping is definitely one of those tasks that requires the right tool for the job. Too often I see poorly crimped wire connections and I absolutely hate using insulated crimp connectors in all their color-coded forms, except when installing a CB radio or 8-track player in a car. This Haisstronica Crimping Tool exceeded my expectations in creating "factory finish" connections on the non-insulated connectors I used on a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air. I practiced one time on a sacrificial connector to ensure that the next crimp (on the only connector I had for the application) would be perfect, which it was! If perfection is your creed, this tool will satisfy. Of course, you must use the correct connector for the gauge of wire your using and the business end of the tool is clearly marked which slot to use. The ratcheting mechanism will allow you to firmly hold the connector in the tool, then insert the wire before completing the squeeze.

Awesome crimper kit for the money.
Currently using them for my trailer rewiring project. Using with some open barrel slices I also got from Amazon and, with a little trial and error, figured out what size splice and size groove works best for my application. Crimpers are easy to use and seem stout. A little learning curve but work well.

Love this Crimper!
Bought: Haisstronica 6PCS Crimping Tool SetOk, Like many of you I have been using those cheap thin metal striper/crimpers that come in every electrical "kit" you ever buy. You can also buy those in stores and are fairly inexpensive, sometimes downright cheap. And to use them to crimp anything means hurting your hand from the pressure and that crappy thin metal. On to this tool and set: I paid $54.99 for this item and at time of review some 10 months later it is $49.99. That seems excessive or expensive however you know the old saying, you get what you pay for. Here you get so much more. It this set you get the crimping tool and 6 sets of dies. It says 6ps because die A is installed on the tool during arrival. The case it comes in is fairly cheap plastic but is more than enough for what you need. However I think the snaps that close it are poor. They are the standard molded on snaps that come with most things that wear over time and break and since they are molded on you cannot replace them. That's really the only con to this set. I opted for this set and not the one that comes with a screw driver because who doesn't already have a screwdriver in their tool kit? Anyways, the Tool feels great in the hand is VERY confrontable. The handle is molded plastic with rubber grips. Crimping pressure (how far down it crimps) is adjustable. The crimper uses a ratchet method so you don't accidently slip. This also lets you increase hand pressure a little at a time which is wonderful. When you hit the full crimp pressure the tool automatically unlocks releasing pressure. If in the event you cannot get full pressure to release there is a bar latch in-between the handles you can use to release the ratchet tension. The dies that it comes with are very wide for an even and professional crimp every time. Those cheap crimpers you get other places only crimp in a tiny spot which means sometimes you have to crimp then connector twice or more! Not with this tool, once and done!Changing dies is extremely easy. Just use a Philipps head screwdriver to remove two screws, one on the top die and one on the bottom. then change dies and replace screws. in the event you lose a screw, this set comes with two EXTRA screws! How awesome is that? This set also comes with almost every die you will need. I mostly use Insulated connecters so I mainly use die A but sometimes use others. I thought I'd never use the Solar connector Die but just recently actually used it and it worked wonderfully!Incase you forget what die is used for what, this little kit comes with a card with pictures of every die and the types of connecters each die is used for and wire sizes. that is EXTREAMLY helpful. The dies are each labeled A,B,C, ext. Also the case which holds the dies is also labeled in each slot for A,B,C, ext. So there is no confusing where each die goes or what they are used for.In conclusion, this set is well worth the money paid for it and is extremely helpful and comfortable to use. Not only that but it gives a good solid professional crimp every time. I have used this set hundreds of times. I have also installed 2 stereos in 2 different cars using this set and it was such a great tool to use. It not only made the job easier but it also made the job more solid and reliable. So please do yourself a favor and get this set, you will not regret it!
