Put two in porch sconces about 8' apart. Both light up when motion detected but only one turns off after a few seconds while the other stays lit. ???

Make sure to allow for a few minutes before jumping to conclusions. Try swapping bulbs. If the problem follows the bulb, then the bulb motion detector may be defective. If the problem stays with location, then something is triggering the motion detector in that location.

will the motion sensor work in a porch ceiling light with glass cover?

I think so. Mine is inside a light fixture. You need to turn the light switch on and leave it on. It should go off by itself when thee is no movement. Then come back on when it senses movement. Mine works great and is outside.

I just purchased these bulbs. I plugged them in and they stay on for 5 seconds and don’t turn on again. What am I doing wrong?

These bulbs respond to motion when there is minimal light so they save energy. If you plugged them in during daylight they would not turn on again. That is how mine work and I am very happy with them.
