Japanese Yosegi Puzzle Box 4 Sun 7 Moves

The craftsmanship and detail in this are absolutely exquisite! I plan on getting more of these as gifts for friends and family for Christmas. It's also large enough that you can fit money, gift cards, and other nick nacks inside with no problem at all. My son is 4 and it is hilarious watching him try to open it.

I messed with this for a few minutes before figuring it out. Despite being 7 moves, a few moves can be accidentally combined to make it more like 5 moves. It had fewer mechanisms than I expected, so I don't think it'd challenge a puzzle enthusiast.The internal measurements were smaller than I expected. The 4-sun was barely large enough inside to accommodate a gift card.It was a Christmas present, kept under a tree near a fireplace for a week. When it was unwrapped, it was very difficult to get the pieces to slide, presumably due to heat warping the wood. I hoped 7 moves, being the easiest, wouldn't frustrate my mom, but she was anyways and had me open it. Neither of these are the creators' fault, but it's a warning to others.It looks good and is conceptually pretty neat, however it's small and light enough it wouldn't make a secure jewelry box. Any thief could easily pocket the entire box, and/or bust it open with ease. On the other hand, it's unlikely to fall open by itself while rattling around inside a bag, for example.

My wife LOVED this. Not often I give a gift that really works and this one really worked. Well designed and crafted. Beautiful and is now prominently set out on her nightside table.
