Heavy but gets the job done.
I have multiple DeWalt 20v cordless tool and batteries and have for the most part been very happy with them, so I decided to but their pole saw when I needed one. It is simple to assemble and operate, and with the center pole attachment has good reach. It has also had surprisingly good power and cutting ability. I used it to take down most of the dead Hawthorne tree beside my driveway with no problem on the dead dry wood. Soon after I found one of my neighbors trees had grown over to the point it was damaging my roof and being careful(and experienced) I was able to trim it back off the house to a point it will take a long to be a problem again. After both those projects and others the 5Ah battery still had plenty of charge. There is a downside though, first when the saw is fully assembled the pole is fairly wobbly, but I have read that is common with electric pole saws. The other less than ideal thing with this saw is the weight. I have developed serious health issues this year, and they have left me very weak, with a loss of 60 % of my diaphragm usage and therefore 60% of my lung capacity, and partial paralysis in both arms so the weight is a serious issue, but by pre-planning and improvising supports I have been able to use it fine, and it does work well. The batteries last surprisingly long, and if you have the chain spinning before contacting the wood to be cut, it never bogs down or stalls...at least that is how mine is.

Does the Job
I recently came into a 59 acre farm and have lots of work to do. I was a bit worried about the idea of a battery powered pole saw but decided to give it a try. So far it's worked well. I've cut with it a couple of days as I ride fields and/or driveway doing other task and the battery has made it through each day (note that I'm using a 6Ah battery starting with it fully charged each day) You can stall the saw pretty easily but it's just a matter of pulling it out of the limb when it stalls and restarting the cut and it cuts right through. It's not light weight but it's a lot lighter than the gas powered one I had been using so all in all I'm happy with the purchase. I do like the idea that I can leave one section of the pole off and have around an 8' pole which works for most of my needs and makes the saw much easier to handle.

Works well but note the comments about the weight
Unless you have very good arm strength, pay attention to the warnings about the weight of the saw. First, the saw is heavy. Second, almost all the weight is at the cutting end. This means when the saw is set at maximum length, almost all the weight is at the opposite end of the handle from where the user is holding the saw. This makes for excessively poor leveraging. I consider myself at or above average arm strength, but I find using the saw at maximum length requires excessive muscle strain and exhaustion. Thus, it requires taking a break after a few cuts. The saw cuts exceptionally well, and even considering the weight far surpasses a non-powered pruning saw and extension clippers. The weight is much less an issue when not cutting at a distance or when removing the extension tubes.

Great value
This pole saw is a mighty work horse. I used it for hours cutting tree limbs of various sizes and it never failed me. To make it even better, I used only 1 battery. If you’re looking for an easy to use dependable pole saw. This is the one.

Read the product description CAREFULLY!
Don’t listen to the negative reviews. Understand what you’re buying! This is extremely lightweight for what it does and does it well! A few things that are not CLEARLY described in the listing, and they ‘fooled’ me too - ‘extendable to 15’ reach’ is a bit deceptive, as the listing most likely expects your comfortable reach is 6’! Understand what I just said, as the pole saw is right at 9’ long! Each section of the pole is about 3’ long! If YOUR reach is 6’, the first attachment makes it 9’, the 2nd makes it 12’, and the third makes it 15’! If you can deal with that, you will LOVE this cordless!!!

Low torque, not like a gas chainsaw, but that's OK!
Everything I'd hoped and a great value for the price. Before buying, understand that this does not perform like a typical chainsaw; If hooked on a strong pencil-sized branch while running, it will stop the chain and you'll have to release and then re-press the trigger to start again. I suppose this is to avoid overheating the motor or something. That said, I'm cutting some 7' white pine tree branches and it does great so long as you understand the concept of not letting the chain get pinched and jammed. Once you get used to and accept that little quirky inconvenience, you'll want to give this a 5-star rating too. But if the chain jams somehow or you're unfamiliar with basic tree-sawing techniques, I can understand that you might be a bit disappointed,With the nice new sharp chain, and using a gentle touch though it cuts White Pine trees like cutting butter. The battery life with both a little 2AH battery pack is limited, but still amazing! A 6 AH size battery is more practical for bigger pruning.Glad I bought this along with 2 spare chains.Update March 2, 2022-I thought I was happy with this little polesaw, but when I tried cutting an 18" diameter Eastern White Pine, after cutting all around it as deep as I could, it fell with a lumberjack like CRACK and down it went! And I'm in a wheelchair and have arthritis, so you know it's not too hard to use. I've already ruined 2 chains from getting them pinched. So long as you always have a spare chain or two so it's always sharp, it cuts amazingly well. I think trying to keep using a worn out chain, or even a sharpened one that isn't perfectly sharpened would be false economy.Update April 6, 2022 - Yet again I'm amazed at how well this thing works even on bigger branches than I'd expected to be able to cut with relative ease. However, I AM just cutting Eastern white pine, which are relatively soft, but still...I did run over (and bend) the bar with my tractor, so I had to replace the bent bar, and though I've had the chain jump off the bar and jam the saw twice since then, it now seems OK after tightening the chain.Perhaps the reason is that there's no rocks to hit like when cutting logs on the ground like I used to do with my standard chain saws, also I keep replacing the chain with a new one much more frequently than I used to do with a regular chain saw, which really pays off if you don't want to have to stop and change the battery with a fresh one very often - even my puny 2 AH battery provides very respectable sawing time.I highly recommend this saw, love my DeWalt tools!-One more important thing!! Don't forget to order a gallon of chain oil to keep the little oil tank full all the time.
