Excellent product, with superb results
Excellent product, with superb results. I had bought a faux leather bound book that I love but after opening the cover several dozen times, a heard a "crack" and I saw the front cover had nearly broke free from the end binding. That was disappointing and I knew what was coming next, the cover was eventually going to detach completely and then I'd have a difficult repair in store or I'd have to replace the book. Chromalabel to the rescue. I ordered the 4" wide book binding tape and applied it over the "cracked' area and my book is restored. No more worries about the cover continuing to degrade. I would have liked to have ordered a smaller quantity, but I'm getting the word out to family and friends that they are welcome to use it for similar needs. Very good product..I can tell it's tough and will last. I ordered the black color to match the book cover and it looks nice. Secondary benefit is that the book doesn't slip when holding with one hand and turning the page with the other..the tape has a cloth like surface. Good stuff!

Tough tape for book repair.
Used this tape to quickly repair the spine on some hymnals. As you can imagine, the books are opened and used a few times a week every week, and this tape has been holding up for years now. Great buy.

Great tape!!
This stuff is tough, slightly stretchy, and holds well. It's nice and wide. Very nice color. It's holding together a copy of Harry Potter that I didn't wanna get rid of. I like it a lot. I would buy it again even though it's a bit on the expensive side.

Better than expected. Excellent finish on the tape.
I've been repairing and restoring antique Hawaiian books. The two pictured are both over 170 years old and neither had a spine. I used book cloth and fussy sub-structure for the larger book, but the rougher, smaller book was easily reassembled using the BookGuard tape. I intended to cover the taped spine with book cloth but the finish on the tape was actually much nicer. So I affixed the leather title labels directly on the tape for a great look. Asterisk Books in Hoboken will make leather and foil labels that add polish to any repaired book. And the BookGuard tape looks amazing with them. The smaller book has both the spine and the cover corners done in the BookGuard tape. The larger has a wide 4.5" book cloth binding, but the edges of the old cover have been protected by the Bookguard tape. There were some partial remnants of the original foilwork on tattered cloth on the the smaller book which is perfectly preserved under some acid-free paper - under the BookGuard tape. This is only possible because of the strong adhesive that has a perfect balance between adhesion and the ability to remove the tape without destroying the fragile surface.

Worked well to fix a book spine
Worked well to fix a book spine. But it is a long roll. What do I do with the rest of it?

Just like the library tape of old
My mother-in-law gave me some books that were my husbands as a child but the bindings were loose. I used this to repair them and it is heavy duty and very good tape. I would buy again.

Works Quite Well
The repair tape is very easy to use. Its user friendly and remains flag until ready to use, ie it does not stick to itself. It has adequate thickness and strength. I had an old manual that has a torn spine and I was able to apply the tape to the underlying paper cover in layers, then take the leather torn spine and apply the tape over that. The burgundy did not match the original red leather cover, but it still looks fine. If I could change two things, it would be the width of the tape and the color.

Good binding tape
Easy to use. Was able to bind covers on 100+ year old books so that I felt good about gifting them to our daughter
