A Review from Mrs. Smith's First Grade Class
In our opinion, Dory Fantasmagory books are great read alouds for first graders. It is a great book series because they are funny. Dory uses a banana to call an imaginary friend named Mr. Nuggy. Another reason is Dory has a great imagination. She has imaginary friends and enemies. Finally, Dory Fantasmagory books have great illustrations. There are pictures on almost every page. Dory Fantasmagory books are wonderful for first graders. They will love it!

Great series, so fun to read aloud
I read this series with my twins when they were 6 and they loved it. Now the twins are 11 and I’m reading it again with their younger brother and it’s just as good! Even the older kids look forward to reading it again every night and they quote it throughout the day. Highly recommend!

Great books for 3rd grader
Absolutely love these books. Got the 4 book set for the same price as 2 books at the school book fair. My granddaughter is so excited to have the set.

Best book for 5yo girls I've found
This is the first chapter book I've been able to interest my 5yo daughter in. We read it aloud to her again and again each night and it just never gets old for any of us. It's got the most lovable protagonist, and is full of humor which even our 9 yo boy enjoys. It's a raucous romp through the imagination of a five year old with side splitting humor that's a bit reminiscent of Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. I've gifted this book to quite a few of my daughter's friends, and everyone loves it. I especially like how Dory isn't overly girly, which is a welcome relief from the deluge of princess stuff my daughter normally insists on. Can't recommend this book more highly!

Best books for 4-5 year old
I've read and re-read these books to my daughter and we've both enjoyed every minute of it. There are illustrations on every page which keeps her engaged while transitioning to chapter books. They're also hilarious. Can't recommend these enough.

Cute series
We were recommended this series and I was skeptical at first, but it held the attention of my 5 & 7 year old through each book. They both asked for it each night, followed the story and really enjoyed it so what more can I ask for. It's a cute series.

Brilliant series - great fun for all ages!
So much fun! My six year old is obsessed with this series. She is reading it for the third time and is so into it that my 8 year old son read it too. I heard him laughing out loud in his bedroom. Abby Hanlon is so in touch with this this age group and her humor speaks to both kids and adults. (I also laughed out loud reading it.) I also love that it has none of the pitfalls I’ve seen in other books for this age group. The protagonist is a bright, confident girl (but not at all stereotypically girly) and it’s just good wholesome fun.
