Pleased with the overall parts quality. a little noisy initially
The bike arrived 5 days after my order was placed, well packed and with good instructions. A large scary label fell out of the instructions that said "This product contains chemical known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. This Product is not a toy and it's not designed/intended to be used by children 12 years of age or younger." This prompts me to want to call the manufacturer to find out which part(s) they are talking about. I took off a star because of this and the noise coming from under the shroud covering the main mechanism. Not the best way to find this information out after the product has been delivered and unpacked. I hope I don't have to return it. (UPDATE: I called IMPEX and they said the seat material is the culprit if it is eaten. They are required to make the statement by law). I expect many modern devices have similar cautionary notes, most in very small print. IMPEX sent me a copy of the Prop 65 explanation. It would probably be better if they included this notice with the instructions, it takes away any concerns that people might have.INSTALLATIONAfter unpacking the parts I assembled the bike myself in 35 minutes. Everything was obvious and well labeled. I got on the bike and was surprised to hear a metallic noise (sounded like a chain and cog although it uses a belt) coming from the main chassis. I thought all I would hear would be fan noise. I think it must be coming from the mechanism inside the cowl. (Update: IMPEX told me to unscrew the cowls or shrouds as they call them, so I did. I found a chain connecting the pedals to the Crank Wheel sprocket which is where the noise is coming from. The sprocket seems to be mis-aligned and the chain is very tight). There's no way for a consumer to get the shrouds completely off and even then the fix is not an easy one and there are belt adjustments that need to be done (rubber belt and chain). I may have to send this back unfortunately. I'm not having much luck with these machines. I've waited two months to get something. (The IMPEX person was willing to help for sure and I am not unwilling to do minor repair work but this is not minor). BTW, there are 7 screws attaching the left shroud to the bike and 3 screws attaching the right shroud to the bike. The Crank Wheel has a warp in it, as does the fan. The fan is not touching the wire cage however, which is good. The warp in the Crank Wheel causes the belt to move from side to side although it has ribs which prevent lateral movement on the Crank Wheel which is also ribbed). The ribs should prevent the belt from ever slipping off the crank wheel. Since the cog is on the same shaft as the ribbed wheel, adjusting the chain tension affects the belt alignment. Out of interest, the sensor for the electronics is attached to the frame and a magnet is attached to the large cogged wheel holding the chain. I'll update this review after hearing from the suppliers/manufacturers.UPDATE: IMPEX were very responsive as were Plumstruck. They both offered to help. The next day IMPEX called me to say that they had shipped a new base unit to my house. I got it today (Thursday night). I set it up and everything is much better, no warped wheels and the noise is lower and sounds more normal. I am very satisfied and can't wait to get going again.THINGS I LIKEThe seat is reasonably comfortable (I will not be taking a bite out of it) and has a nice soft feel. The display came with batteries although the description said it didn't. I like the large display very much and I don't mind the lack of a heart monitor because I have the Timex heart monitor that includes a strap that goes around my chest and a watch that shows my pulse. Built in monitors are included in more expensive machines and I'd rather use my own. I also like being able to park my feet on the footrests while I use the handles instead of the pedals. I wanted to choose between feet and hands or both. The foot straps were hard to get installed but that may mean they are hard to dislocate (They stay on very well). The transport wheels are very nice to have and they are configured close together so it should make moving very easy when necessary. It's too bad that the sprocket is giving me problems but I would rather not deal with a broken chain sometime in the not-too-distant future, I'm sure the bike would be out of commission for quite a while if the chain broke. UPDATE: IMPEX shipped a new unit so I don't have this problem anymore, full marks to them.I've seen comments about seats but I think that any discomfort goes away after the derriere gets accustomed to the machine, much like riding a horse or a regular bike. Consider the pressure that you feel on your butt was on your knees before and be happy. UPDATE: When you sit back on the seat there's plenty of give and no discomfort.THINGS I'VE NOTICEDThe speed readout displays TWO parameters, speed and RPM. The text is difficult to read but of course once you know what the readings are it's no big deal.SUMMARYA good product for a good price, sturdy and comes with excellent customer service if needed. Assembly is very easy and even pleasurable. No flimsy components. I recommend it. After a few months I can say that I am really enjoying this machine. I am doing Tabata training on it and it's perfect. I wouldn't change a thing about it. After using the bike for a number of months now I updated my star rating to 5, I am very satisfied with the bike and very satisfied with the price.UPDATE: January 2018My wife and I still use this product every day and it performs flawlessly. I've changed the display batteries once since I bought it. Great value. I know it's easy to get out of the habit of exercising but even 6 minutes of Tabata training a day will make a difference given the intensity. I plan to buy a reliable heartbeat monitor to make sure I'm not overdoing things. Still very happy with the product after five years or so of use.UPDATE: March 28, 2019My wife and I have been putting 11 combined miles a day on the bike since January 7th, 2019 and the chain gave way yesterday. I am ordering a replacement chain today. Otherwise everything is good. IMPEX had the chain in stock and are sending the replacement. Very reasonable price and shipping. About 7-10 days. I still have not replaced the batteries for the display.

Nice exercise bike
This was a gift for my 82 yo mother. It was well packaged and pretty easy to put together (by my husband). It took about 30-40 minutes to assemble. I liked the fact that it had the wheels to roll the bike from room to room. My mother really liked the bike and was happy with the bigger seat and how easy it is to use and has the option to pedal or just to use it for the arm workout. All in all, a good purchase.

90% as good as the Schwinn Airdyne at less than half the price SEE March 2023 update
First I want to compliment Amazon on shipping speed. I ordered this on 10 Sep; it arrived 13 Sep. It is a well designed and constructed piece of equipment, particularly at this bargain price. Assembly was uncomplicated, despite the typically vague instructions that seem to always result when translating from Chinese. I think that pretty much anyone looking for a good exercise bike workout should be happy with this bike. Having said that, I am not a biking fan - I am a runner. However, a recent hip problem made me switch to walking while waiting for the hip issue to resolve. The hip issue threw off my walking gait enough to cause a pretty good stress fracture of the 2nd metatarsal (long bone behind the toe) on the opposite foot. A good 6 weeks before I can even think about easing back into running. Reasoning that I needed something in the way of aerobic training while my parts healed, I thought of exercise bikes, and remembered that I tried the Schwinn Airdyne nearly twenty years ago at a gym - air resistance from the fan wheel, also worked upper body, and pretty much nothing to wear out. Amazon has the newest versions of the Schwinn, but the lowest price I recall seeing was $570. Well, given that my objective would have the bike being used only a few weeks in the near term, and infrequently after I was able to run again, that seemed a bit steep. The description and reviews of the Marcy suggested that it should be able to give me what I needed at more palatable price point. A week ago my doc told me that I should wait two weeks before using a bike. I started using this Marcy two days after he told me that, reasoning that the pressure on my foot would be reduced by using the handles (that proved correct), and the pedals have a much broader surface area than typical bike pedals (spreads the pressure). I cautiously did a 30 min session at a pedal rate around 50 rpm, which got my heart rate up at least as much as my limping walks had done. Next session increased pedal rate to about 55rpm - threshold of deeper breathing for me. Third session increased pedal rate to about 60 rpm - sweat dripping, breathing at low end aerobic range. Fourth session could not maintain 60 rpm because quadriceps were complaining - pedal rate averaged about 58 rpm, still lots of sweating. Fifth session, today, was able to maintain 60 rpm pedal rate, quads did not complain quite as much (kind of like saying when the dentist stopped drilling it hardly hurt at all), felt like I had a decent aerobic session. The seat is broad and well padded, but honestly, my butt has not liked any bicycle seat since the old fashioned kind that were on bikes when my age was in single digits more than 50 years ago. So, what is the bottom line here. Unless your needs and expectations for this bike are at a significantly higher level, you really cannot go wrong with the Marcy. I am not a bike fan - this Marcy is giving me what I need at a bargain price. Can't ask for more than that.3/22/2023 UPDATE - For anyone anxiously wondering how things have been going these past 7 years...My hip issue resolved, sort of. I was able to resume running, but at a much reduced distance and frequency. This bike went from temporary stopgap and dust collector to regular use. I transitioned to a 3 day program, run 1 day, lift 1 day, bike 1 day. For the past 5 years I've used this bike about 120 days a year, 10 miles per session. Lots of miles. The bike has been a faithful companion until this month. It began clanking and banging (intermittently, not constantly), and I began finding small bits of hard black plastic on the floor after each session (left pedal side, mostly between the pedal and the fan wheel), perhaps 50 so far. I recalled that in my youth bike chains would clank and bang when in need of lube or adjustment. Damn near impossible to do either on this bike, but I was able to separate the halves of the shroud that cover the lower area enough to determine that nothing was out of line, the chain was not loose and still showed the factory lube. It sounded more like something was hitting the cage around the fan, but nothing was there either. After spending entirely too much time with this, I discovered that the plastic fan wheel showed a slight wobble on its axle. It seems that the plastic fan hub rotates on a metal axle and eventually wears enough to begin shedding bits of plastic, which causes more wobble which causes more shedding, and so on. Although my bike is long out of warranty, I contacted Marcy asking for some goodwill help. Marcy seemed responsive at first, asking me to send pictures of the plastic bits, a video so they could hear the clanking, and more details about what I had tried. After about two weeks of this back and forth, Marcy blew me off - go away, son, your POS bike is out of warranty. Had they told me upfront, I would have understood, but nooo, they jerked me around for two weeks. Why am I telling you this? Be forewarned that if you buy this bike you may not be able to rely on customer support to resolve a problem. Also, be aware that long use will probably destroy the fan wheel. Finally, several of these reviews mention clanking and banging. If this happens out of the box, you have a bike that Marcy did not put together right. Insist on replacement. If it happens later, but within the warranty period, move quickly to press Marcy for repair or replacement. After warranty, you have the Missouri guarantee - all the broken parts are yours. As for me, this bike will soon come apart; the replacement will not be a Marcy product. Perhaps you might want to consider something better than this in the first place.

I like it so far.
It is better built than I expected. Was easy to assemble, my wife did it for me! It is mostly metal, not excessive plastic. Although made in China, it appears to be better quality than my last exercise bike I bought back in the 1980s. If it doesn’t hold up, I will update this review. So far I’m very pleased.

Piece of crap
Can't return the bike. cause it's not in a box ? Who keeps the box the bike comes with ? Plus there was an elecrical wire thet was never installed on the bike to begin with ! So i guess I;m stuck with itBut, thanks to walmart, I can get a wireless computer for it. which gives me the time I ride the bike, and distance, calories, and so forth. Looks just like it.

Got in good shape and easy to assemble
We finally got it and got it put together quickly. We both like it and it will get very us a chance to get some much needed exercise in this cold weather. Couldn’t find it in the system for a while but it got here. So far on this first afternoon we like it and will use it often. Thanks
