A Small Price to Pay for Added Safety
The product is extremely well made for the price and I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to add this safety feature to their automobile. Seconds matter when in a difficult situation and I feel more confident having this within my reach. I had envisioned mounting this to the carpet next to my my right leg in my 2011 F-250 but the contours of the truck are not compatible with the pin system inside the base that allows easy and secure mounting. However, I did find a great place under the console in the back floor board that would allow me to easy reach it in an emergency situation. It could easily be place in a console or door pocket as well. I did not test the razor blade but positioned it on my seat belt as if I was going to cut it and it seems that the angle was right to do the job.

Excellent safety hammer
The original! Very good quality. Bought a for my tractor and my personal vehicles. I really like the easy and very secure mounting to fabric upholstery and carpeted surfaces. All pros for this model except don’t expect much from the glow in the dark feature. But I’m totally pleased with these.

I pray I'll never have to use it but it's good to know I have it in the event of ...
As a highly paranoid individual, I saw this just browsing on Amazon and immediately pictured myself at the bottom of a lake with no way out--and impending death upon me...so I bought it. I pray I'll never have to use it but it's good to know I have it in the event of something crazy happening. However, I wouldn't recommend getting the glow-in-the-dark Safety Hammer, because honestly when you think about it you'll most likely be keeping it in your glove compartment. Which means it has no access to sunlight, and therefore won't glow in the dark anyway. Either way it's a good tool to have just in case! I'm glad I bought it.

Keep Safe, Keep a Hammer in your Car
I have not had the opportunity to use this device yet, and hope that I never will. I do, however, prefer to be prepared and safe as possible when I drive country roads. It seems to be a sturdy product. My only complaint about it, is that I do not have a space to affix it to my vehicle where it would be most helpful. This of course is due to the model of my car and the design of the interior, not the device. There are two options for doing this. One, is with the built in prongs on the underside of the cradle that your are mean to slowly push out. Be careful these are very sharp, and yes, they do puncture the interior of your car where you use them. The other is to screw the cradle into place, as there are holes that go through the cradle which allow for this. Screws are not provided, but I am sure they are not hard to come by if you need them. I have not tested the reliability of the glow, but this is not the most important feature of the product.

Standard Equipment
This should be standard equipment in anyone's car. Just try to imagine driving your car into a canal or pond, slowly sinking to the bottom (pitch dark of course, maybe with a baby in the back...). Or imagine witnessing a car crash, car catches on fire with someone inside, doors won't open, seatbelt won't come off quickly. Or a baby/dog locked inside a car. It happens every day, and it's costing lives -- it's that simple, and we all know it. This LifeHammer is one of those things you hope you'll never need, and most people won't over their lifetime, but if you ever do, you're gonna be happy you spent the money on it (or thank whoever gave it to you).Installation is easy with a couple screws. I usually don't alter or add anything to my car interior (like to keep it 'original'), but this is the only exception I make (one on either side of the center console, near driver's/passenger's foot, in my case). I guess you could keep it loose in the glove compartment or somewhere else, as long as you can grab it in seconds in the dark while stuck in your seat trying to not freak out...Stop thinking about it, just get a couple of these. They're a household name in Europe, should be the same in the US.

Selling features not so great
Doesnt effectively glow in the dark. The holder is bulky and useless to attach in car although it holds the tool well.

The only safety hammer worth buying, so far.
I had given up and discarded previous safety hammers due to poor quality, low head weight. They looked to me like a waste of space and money, which would not help me in case of an emergency. This is absolutely a different thing. Small, solid, heavy-headed, with a support base, and glow-type. I bought one for each car of my family members.

Slightly smaller than what I expected but good item
Keeping it in the center console.
