I recommend using a breast pad alongside it because it can be quite greasy and leave marks on clothing.Rest assured, it is completely safe for babies, so there's no need to worry about them ingesting it. I apply it after each feed and let it soak in between. Sometimes, if I'm particularly sore, I also apply it at night. It is unscented. It can be a bit tricky to spread at times, but warming it up between your fingers or pre-warming the tube can help.The best part about this product is that it's not limited to just nipples. Honestly love this so much as a lip balm. I have angular cheilitis and this is one of the only things that has helped with Vaseline. It’s quite thick when it’s cold but as soon as it warms it’s super smooth. Love it

Initially this was bought while breastfeeding but 9 years on it is still used regularly albeit not for nipples. It's great for minor cuts, sore or itchy skin, sore bottoms, and dry patches.There is always some in the house and the smaller packs are great for travel.
