Great Video Camera
Has lots of features for video. It is a crop frame, but it serves my video needs. I have a full-frame camera for photography. This is lightweight, very versatile, and portable. There is no IBIS, but it does have digital stabilization. The DS makes the images a bit more fluid, but not as good as a stabilizer. I have a 3-axis gimbal, so the lack of stabilization is not a big issue for me. Overall, its a great addition for content creators videos.

The cheapest body with the most features
First things first, this is a less than $700 camera body. Let's talk about the features we are getting that you normally only see at double the price when buying new. First, video centric features such as 10bit 4:2:2 clog3 recording that can record up to 2 hrs continuously. What about overheating? The Canon R50V has that covered too with an internal fan that can be set in the menu to a high temp limit. My first long form shoot with this was a concert on a tripod that was 1hr 45min straight in 90 degree heat in direct sunlight, and the R50V didn't flintch even at 4k 23.98fps 10bit 422 clog3 and left me with a 95gb file. This concert started in bright light but the sun went down and one of the biggest concerns I had with this camera was no dual native iso, but it's APS-C sensor still was able to have detail even in a dimmer setting, mind you not extremely low light conditions which the camera cannot handle but I wouldn't expect a $700 to perform like a full frame in that regard. The form factor is very small and the body feels light in your hands. The body is plastic but still feels durable and I am confident to bring it with me on various gigs. Now the biggest drawback to this is the digital stabilization which is my opinion sacrifices some of the sharpness this sensor is capable of, but it's not a deal breaker. This camera being light allowed me to put my extra bulky Sigma 18-55mm f1.8 EF on it with and EF-RF adapter and still use it on a gimbal with a rated weight capacity of 4lbs, this not needing the digital stabilization and getting the most out of the sensor. Finally, while this is video centric, I could see canon release a USC C EVF for those who want to occasionally use it for photos but as an option, this would make this camera a hybrid killer in a video centric world.

Great new camera
Great camera. Video focused but I’m using it heavily for stills and it does fine. Obviously troublesome in bright sunlight without an EVF, but still quite happy with it.My others body is an EOS RP, definitely a nice unit as well but definitely feeling dated now that I have the R50 V.

A Vloggers Camera
The media could not be loaded. This is a video first camera which should be obvious since there is no viewfinder. Even though this takes incredible photos, the menu system and options make it difficult to adjust and customize photo specific settings on the fly.## The LensThe kit lens is solid enough to get started and comfortable but most likely you would eventually move to something more tailored to what you want/need out for your content once you realize the limits for your use case. The14-30mm range is pretty useful since it's on the wider side allowing for easy selfie videos but the F4-6.3 is pretty narrow so don't expect to get much bokeh here. The lens has pretty solid image stabilization (IS) and much needed since the body itself does not.## The BodyEffectively this is all the same internals as the old R50 but in a much more compact form. The dial has several video modes along with custom video modes so you can configure your presets and switch between really easily. There are 2 1/4-20 mounts for vertical or horizonal mounting, perfect for shorts/tiktok/reels content creation. The screen is pretty standard but the screen can flip forward for self facing shots coupled with the extra record button on the front allowing for easy 1 person content creation. Also love that I can face the camera in when not in use and I have it hooked up to my external monitor. There's no IBIS so be sure that you either get a lens with IS or use a gimbal to keep your image smooth. The good thing is most Canon lens have built in IS but still something to watch out for and not take for granted. This has all the ports you would need, mic/headphone/HDMI however the HDMI is a micro HDMI port which means it is SUPER delicate. This is a video first camera so even a mini HDMI would be a much better choice so just make sure your cables are secured when rigging this up with an external monitor/transmitter.## Image qualityYou really can't go wrong at this price point for image quality here since you're getting an amazing. Great colors, easy to grade, and lots of available LUTS for CLOG3 recording## TakeawayIf you're mainly shooting videos, this is a fantastic camera and kit to get started and a reasonable price. Also any photography on this can get cumbersome and annoying to deal with so please look at other options if you're wanting to do mostly photography.Reasons for taking off a star:- massive crop on 4k60 mode on a new camera in 2025 which really reduces your field of view- micro HDMI is such a delicate port to have on something that will mainly be used for video and likely have an external monitor

What I like about this camera
EOS R50 V has Power over USB great for time lapses, its part of the Canon echo system takes full frame RF lenses or RFS-apsc lenses buy full frame lenses now, A digital hotshoe works with the Canon Stereo Microphone DME1D, the R50v has internal timecode, Flat video profile (CLOG) and cuts 1080p like butter takes, 6k photos does RAW however video is upscaled from the 6K sensor to 4K and 4K crops at 60fps all other record modes dont crop, this LOOKS Amazon Direct ready https://videodirect.amazon.com/home/help?topicId=G202129880 I'm going to try that, Takes an SD card were the battery goes no CFexpress type B so you dont get PROres or MOV files just MP4, only weighs 3/4lbs
