Super effective! I love that it’s made with plant-based ingredients, making it a great choice for those who prefer a more natural option. Add crazy mosquitoes to the bizarre 2020 year! We live in Southern California and like to walk in the evenings when it cools down. We suddenly started getting tons and tons of mosquito bites. My daughter had over 70 that we counted after wearing a sports top on one walk! The rest of us had them all over our legs and arms, pretty much any exposed area. I was very hesitant to buy a bug spray out of concern for chemicals, but figure we needed to do some so we didn’t end up with West Nile or some other mosquito disease. I can’t tell you how pleasantly surprised I was with this Off product. It has a very light pleasant smell, absolutely no chemical smell at all. It’s easy to spray and apply a light coat to our skin and clothes....and the best part of all.....absolute no more bug bites for any of us!! This product works so well and we love that we can go back on our evening walks without having to worry about bug bites.

Let's be real with this review: bug sprays without DEET or picaridin aren't as effective or as long lasting as those with DEET or picaridin. This is a fact.On to this bug spray. The active ingredient in this spray is p-Menthane-3, 8-diol (also called PMD). PMD is found in eucalyptus oil in small quantities, hence the botanicals name. However, the bottle (and this page) clearly state that the compound has been derived from other sources (pine oil); this does not change the effectiveness.Pros:- Repels mosquitos decently well for up to 2 hours after being applied to the skin- Will not dissolve your clothes/shoes/plastics like DEET- Safer for aquatic animals/creatures than DEET (and probably picaridin)- No strong smell (it does have a slight rubbing alcohol scent that goes away as soon as it dries)- Dries quickly- No greasy/sticky residueCons:- Does not work nearly as well as a DEET or picaridin based bug spray- Not suitable for deep woods/back country- Last a very short period of time (it is pretty ineffective at the 2 hour mark)- Pump spray applicator does apply as evenly as an aerosol applicator- Only 10% PMD, which is fairly low. Repel Lemon Eucalyptus insect repellent is 30% lemon eucalyptus oil, which is about 65% PMD; that means that, in total Repel Lemon Eucalyptus insect repellent is 19.5% PMD to OFF's 10%.CONCLUSION:This is a decent "natural" bug spray; it works fairly well to repel mosquitos, without leaving any bad odor or sticky residue. That said, it doesn't last long (it's pretty ineffective after about an hour and totally ineffective by hour 2), and it doesn't work as well as picaridin or DEET based bug spray. Additionally, there are better PMD based bug sprays; look for one that is 30% lemon eucalyptus oil/~19% PMD.Overall, though, this spray works well enough for me when I take the dog out for a walk in the evenings in my suburban/urban neighborhood.If you are doing to be doing anything in the woods or back country, get yourself a picaridin based bug spray. DEET is another alternative, but it leaves a greasy residue on the skin, can dissolve plastics (including elastics/synthetic fabrics on clothes), and is highly toxic to aquatic animals.

The whole family uses this as a healthier alternative to deet bug sprays. The smell is good, it's not oily and it works pretty well

Wait. It actually works! I get eaten alive by mosquitos even when no one else is getting touched by them. This time, it was other people that got bitten. This stuff works wonderfully with no harsh smell. Definitely buying this again.

Ingredient is methane. I wanted it also for gnats or tiny black flies. Does not work for those. I recommend using Deep Woods Off, not this. You can enjoy the tingle. Lol.

I spend a lot of time outside in my yard every day (which I haven’t sprayed for mosquitos) and needed a general use bug spray that didn’t make my want to shower and change immediately when I came inside. This bug spray is FANTASTIC. It only has a *slight* smell and a slight oily feel, but both fade as you disperse it around, and it wards away the mosquitoes perfectly. It shouldn’t be the spray of choice if you’re hiking, but it’s specifically not meant for that (no Deet). It’s a great option for a gentler daily-use bug spray. Usually need to reapply every few hours, and it won’t ward bugs away from areas that haven’t been sprayed- I usually spray my clothes as well.

Living in Florida it is bug central. And my blood is a gourmet dinner. Off Botanicals is great. Nice smell not overpowering like aerosol can be. And best of all it works. We have a bug called No See Ums, and they attack feet, I spray my feet and no more bites. I am able to spray my neck and arms and the mosquitos do not get me. I also like the fact this is a pump spray and not aerosol.
