Are You Ready to Play Outside?-An Elephant and Piggie Book Hardcover – Illustrated, October 28, 2008

Ahhhhh, it's another Elephant and Piggie book that's a hit in our household! We heard about these books through my twins' teachers and ended up borrowing all of them from the library. My kids are five and loved them so much we bought all of the books since we read them all the time. These books have been a worthwhile investment for us!Are You Ready to Play Outside? by Mo Willems is another fantastic addition to the acclaimed Elephant and Piggie series. I don't want to give away any details about the story so I will just say that both Gerald (Elephant) and Piggie find out what happens when they go outside to play. Anything can happen!This book is one of the many in the series that has won the Theodor Seuss Geisel Award and it's easy to see why. The story is funny and enjoyable for whole families to read. The story as a whole is short since there are usually just a few words on each page and the words are perfect for young children to learn to read. My kids can read many parts of these books and the words are short enough that they are great for beginning readers. The illustrations are fun and the stories are hilarious. I really get into these stories and my kids love it when I do all of the different voices! Like the other Elephant and Piggie stories, this one is 57 pages long. The hardcover edition is a beautiful book with thick paperback pages.You can't go wrong with any of the books in the Elephant and Piggie series! We love them all and I feel they are worth it to buy since you'll read them A LOT! Schools love these books and everyone I've talked with loves them too. They are geared towards kids ages four to eight but I'm sure younger and slightly older kids would enjoy them as well. You won't be disappointed!

All of the Elephant and PIggie books are great! My kids enjoyed them when they were little and buy at least one for every baby gift I give. The are cute, funny and usually there is a good lesson to learn.

My 6yo who just started 1st grade loved this book. It was very simple to read and made him giggle!

Wonderful book that's easy to follow with fun pictures. My grandson adored this book, so I bought more titles from the author.

My kids love the series! They are a must buy!

This is our second elephant and piggie book, but the fifth book I got for my son to read. My son loves reading the elephant and piggie books and he doesn't get frustrated while reading these like he did with some other books meant for early readers. He wants me to buy more elephant and piggie books... and I do too! Mo Willems really knows how to write books that kids not only want to read but they actually can read them.

My mom picked this out for my cousins first birthday gift. She teaches kindergarten and told me her students love this author so she tried to find something a little lower level for him!

My daughter is a level H reader. She loves reading all these books out loud with me. She plays piggie and I play elephant. They have been excellent for getting her excited to read!
