Mobil 1 ATF 3309 Top quality oil fair price.
Changed transmission fluid in my 2012 Mazda 5 with 65,000 miles. Transmission had no issues. Did change as preventative maintenance. Manual called for Mazda m-v M5 fluid. or (JWS 3309). So choosing Mobil 1 at half the price was pretty easy. I think $86 for 12 qt. I used 8 qts. to flush with a new filter

Mobil JWS3309, Automatic Transmission Fluid, for Volvo's
Been using this Mobil Specification JWS3309 Automatic Transmission Oil required for Volvos, in this case a 2006 Volvo S40, with 150K miles. I change the fluid once a year by draining the pan, no gasket or pan removal since this is a sealed transmission. Even though Volvo says the fluid doesn't require changing, rest assured the fluid oxidizes and turns black with all that grime from constant metal friction and heat generated by many miles of usage. For a complete transmission flush, drain the pan, about 4qts. and refill through the transmission dipstick tube, with a plastic tube hand pump, the same amount as removed. Run the motor a few minutes and cycle by repeating this process FOUR times until all 12 qts. in the package are used up. Before the last top-off I also add and highly recommend a bottle of Prolong Automatic Transmission Treatment. Through the years I have had no problems, no leaks, no smoke, no hesitation, in fact the motor and transmission runs good as new. This Mobil 3309 ATF is pure mineral based oil, not semi-synthetic. This is NOT MOBIL 1, which is a pure synthetic ATF and is NOT compatible with JWS3309 specifications like the regular Mobil 3309. STOP confusing and using Mobil 1 which this oil is NOT, only the brand name. Several companies now make ATF that is JWS3309 specific, as required by Volvo. I have used and highly recommend, this regular Mobil 3309 for many years with no problems, read your owners manual, using anything else is at your own risk.

The real deal
I drained and filled 15 qts of Mobile 1 JWS 3309 in a 2007 Volvo XC90 V8 with 197,000 miles. A week or two before this, I had done 3x drain and fills (about 9 qts) of MaxLife ATF in an attempt to cure a transmission shudder between 3rd and 4th. Maxlife did not cure the shudder, but in fact made it significantly worse after a week or two of driving. The shudder was so bad you could only drive the car in manual mode and had to keep the RPMs above 2000. Once I got home from the road trip I did the previously mentioned Mobile 1 drain and fill. It massively improved the shudder and overall smoothness of the trans. A slight shudder remained between 3rd and 4th (this has been normal behavior for the last year even on Aisin fluid specific to the TF80SC trans), so I also added 1 packet of ATP AT-222 shudder eliminator. The transmission is now buttery smooth. I legitimately feel like I am driving a new car. This is wonderful stuff. And I hate to sound like a forum expert, but the debate between Maxlife vs JWS 3309 is warranted. DO NOT PUT MAXLIFE ATF FLUID IN A VOLVO XC90 TRANS.

Exactly what is needed for Volvos! Fantastic oil!
This stuff is great! I used it to replace the ATF in my 2004 Volvo V70R with 215k miles. I was hesitant to believe all the reviews saying you could feel the difference immediately, but its no joke. I flushed out my old fluid which was brown and no longer that nice red color. As soon as I took the car out for a drive on the highway I was amazed at how much smoother the shifting was. It became so much smoother, I didn't even know it could shift smoother. The car also pulls a lot nicer and feels like some power was restored. It has been close to almost 1k miles since I have changed the fluid and I have absolutely no negatives to report. Mobil did real great with this oil. This is also the cheapest you will find this oil. The 12 quarts provided enough for me that by the time I flushed out the twelfth quart, the fluid was clean and no longer brown. Unless your ATF is black and burnt, I would not hesitate to replace the entire contents of your autobox with this stuff.

Great ATF for Aisin Transmission
Mobil 3309 is working great with my Aisin transmission on 2020 Ram 3500 Cummins 6.7L. Better value than the Mopar fluid and suitable for the specifications of the Aisin. Aisin is requires ASRC automatic transission fluid.

Toyota A650E shifting correctly. Too expensive.
This appears to not only be compatible with Toyota T-IV fluid...I believe it's exactly the same stuff. The Toyota T-IV bottle and label is literally identical, just different color and logo.I used this in an early 2000s Toyota with A650E transmission that was working properly to begin with. After a full fluid/filter change - it's still working correctly...but it's a nicer shade of red, now.

Perfect equivalent to the Mopar aisin fluid. Its the same fluid. Actually shifts better in my opinion.
