Constant Problems, Unhelpful App, Way Overpriced
Like everyone else, wanted to love it. When it works, it's pretty cool. But it has non-stop problems, cryptic error codes, poor performance on multiple floors, small vacuum bin, short battery, long charging times, and an app that is slow and doesn't help debug the issues. The robot actually cleans well. It has great suction and the mop works great on our hardwood floors. We have a golden retriever and it mops up all this slobber and paw prints great. It also vacuums a ton of hair, but the bin fills up really quickly. If you're on the main floor where the Roomba's home base is, it can empty itself and continue. It can even recharge. But if you're on a floor where the base isn't, the Roomba takes constant supervision as it will stop when its bin is full. Which happens about every twenty minutes. The app's mapping is good and powerful. But the real-time information about why the robot has stopped is so clunky. When it stops you have no idea why. Or get the same error code over and over. The app will simply say "JOB PAUSED" when the real issue is the bin is full. Or the mop fluid needs to be refilled. Or the battery died. Or you'll put the robot on the base and then the app still shows the "Go Home" button and to continue you have to press the button and suffer through a ten minute process where it backs off and on the base over and over trying to go home when it was already HOME. Why can't the software realize this!?Half the time when you put the Roomba on the base, it won't go into the mode that allows you to refill the Roomba with mop fluid or empty the trash bin into the base. It takes constant hard reboots of both the base and the robot to get it to perform correctly. It's exhausting. Our first J9+ died in less than a month with a critical non-stop error. They sent a replacement which was nice but it still has all of the above general hardware and software problems. It all feels very first-generation. We thought since they'd been out for so long this would be a great product but it has issues EVERY time you run it. We've learned to only have it clean one room at a time. Anything more and it gets overwhelmed. It's total product disappointment for $1000. We'll switch to another brand next time.

Just about perfect.
Pro’s-Base is compact and looks nice.-Once it’s done 2 mapping runs and the keep out zones are adjusted you can pretty much just let it do its thing and not worry about it.-Vacuum and mop performance is very good, even with a shedding Golden Retriever in the house.-Obstacle avoidance is really really good.-I know it’s manufactured in China, but it’s an American company, and that makes a difference to me.-Changing the mop pad is no more work than emptying the dirty water, and I know the mop pad and base are always clean.-My 4th Roomba and the best so far.Con’s-You have to be pretty obsessive with it for the first 2 days. You need to unclutter the house, let it do 2 complete mapping runs, and spend some time creating and adjusting keep out zones.-Bathroom Mats are a problem. Keep out zones haven’t been the answer for me. I don’t know if the answer is taping them down, picking them up before each run, or just letting them get moved around by the robot. It’s not a completely frustration free process to get the J9+ Combo set up, but once it is set up, it’s nearly perfect. It cleans very well, picks up dog hair, mops well and consistently finishes every job without getting stuck.Auto empty vacuum and auto fill mop functions are great.I really don’t mind washing and changing the mop pad, I think it’s probably better than hoping the machine cleans the mop, and then having to empty the dirty water and clean the base.Everything seems to be made in China, but buying from an American company appeals to me.Roomba’s are really easy to replace parts when needed.I Really like this robot, I’m glad I sent back the Roborock Q-Revo and bought this. The Q-Revo had all the bells and whistles, but the vacuum performance was terrible, obstacle avoidance was awful, and the build quality wasn’t great.I think this is the best Roomba yet. It’s not perfect and is a little frustrating for the first couple days, but the effort has been worth it. It works flawlessly every day.I hope Jarvis will continue working well and be my new helper for many years.
