Yes, Rondog1722, the 40985 should work as a replacement on your 2004 Chevy 2500. It would require that it is hardwired in place of the OE. In the instructions you would find the color code for what functions match up with the color of wire on our part. You would want to make sure that you are wiring functions together and not colors, as the colors will not always match.
