Super impressed! Goodbye to my Virtuoso???
I bought this grinder specifically for travel. We drive to a vacation property for a week a few times each year. The kitchen is quite well-equipped, but a Mr. Coffee doesn’t cut it for me, so I bring and Aeropress or French Press instead. My travel grinder has been a Hario Skerton, but I had come to dread grinding with it. I’m 63 and have some early arthritis in my hands, so gripping that fat grinder and turning with a reasonable amount of effort for what seemed like an eternity, but was probably 3 minutes, was not how I wanted to start my morning on vacation. The grind was just OK. So recently, I had switched to a French Press simply because the coarser grind was quicker and less painful.I have been eying better manual grinders for a few years and decided that it was time for the Skerton to get out of my cabinet and head off to Goodwill. I landed on the X-Pro Ultra due to its comfortable diameter, reported superiority for pourovers, the magnetic grounds bin, and the case. Also, I’m not in love with any vinyl, silicone, or rubber material on the exterior, such as is found on the X-Pro. I think the X-Pro is quite handsome, but those materials don’t always age very well. By the way, there is a fairly narrow (1”?) and thin black silicone ring which comes with the grinder if you need a little extra diameter or grip. I left mine off.Well, I am just astounded at the difference in speed and effort required to grind with this buttery-smooth grinder. The large knob and comfortable diameter for gripping makes just holding this grinder just about ideal. It chews through medium roast beans in no time. The suggested setting for a pourover results in a grind which is appropriate for the James Hoffman V60 recipe or the Onyx Coffee Labs standard recipe, both of which are quite fine. 24g takes me less than a minute with little effort. It’s probably closer to 40 seconds. The resulting grind is shockingly even. I have a Baratza Virtuoso with upgraded burrs and this grinder produces a MUCH more consistent grind. With my Virtuoso, I will often use a grinds sifter to eliminate powder, but I see no reason at all when using the X-Pro Ultra. The build quality is stellar. With no beans loaded inside, the burrs spin with virtually no effort. The finish is excellent. Even the case is really nicely made semi-rigid model with an easy-to-use zipper. It holds the grinder with its folded handle, a surprisingly useful bulb blower, and a dual-ended brush. Static has not been much of a problem at all, but by experience, that will likely vary, depending upon the coffee that’s being ground. So, now I’m looking at that fine Baratza Virtuoso sitting on my counter and thinking that maybe I should retire it to the basement shelves next to my Moccamaster that I use only when having a gathering at my house. The X-Pro Ultra is so satisfying to use, produces a superior grind, and is so compact. My wife would definitely approve!

A Must for Serious Coffee Drinkers
I've run the gamut on coffee grinders, ranging from the cheap, but popular, hand grinder that's meh in grind consistency to the more expensive electric grinders that make life easier with a quick grind, but they all turn out to be a chore to clean, the grinds container sheds everywhere, and up to a gram of ground coffee would stick to the chute. After thinking of all the lost coffee and tired of all the cleaning, I read through reviews by professional coffee roasters and found that this hand grinder came up time and again. This can do everything from espresso to pour overs, mocapots and aeropress. The price point is higher, but you can feel it in the quality and solid build of the grinder. It was easy to assemble, though I would highly recommend watching one of the many YouTube videos on how to calibrate it, which is quite easy once you see how it is done.Grinding is easy for all ages because the wood-finish grip makes it easy to hold and the grinder turns with ease. It grinds quickly and comes out with a beautiful, consistent grind, that makes an excellent cup of coffee. Bonus is that I now have no mess, no noise, no lost coffee, and it's grind is consistent. I highly recommend this to those who are looking for a daily driver grinder that's easy to use, can be used for various types of brewing methods, and makes a delicious coffee. I'm really happy with this and I will stay with this product line in the future!

Best Hand Grinder!
I love this grinder! The grinder is made with food grade stainless. I dialed in the number for my French press and! now I’m having the best coffee ever! The actual grinding process is so quick and efficient, it’s unbelievable. Definitely worth the money

Love it!
Love it, no problems with the catch cup (I have large hands). Grinding for pour over every morning is a breeze. Quality build, as expected from 1zpresso.If you like traditional bold coffee taste with some sweet notes, heavily prefer the X ultra over the K ultra (more juicy and acidic).

Great grinder with one small caveat.
So I debated on if I wanted to give 5 stars or 4. Now I love the grind settings and the quality of the grind that comes from this grinder. I have no issues at all with its grind or settings. In fact this grinder is a hit overall. The one caveat is that I noticed that it felt like all the beans were ground and when I looked in I saw two left in the grinder burr area. So I spun it a few more times and sure enough it ground them. This was a little frustrating to see, but in no way is a deal breaker and I just have to remember to spin it a few extra times after it feels done. All in all you won't be upset with this grinder and it's grind quality. It's built pretty sturdy and looks great, and most importantly it gives a uniform grind and that is what matters most of all! Definitely happy overall with the buy on this one!

Great piece of equipment
I love this grinder. It’s so well made. Easy to use. There’s something so satisfying about hand grinding my beans in the morning to make my espresso. Extremely happy with this purchase.

My first hand grinder
This was my first investment into a higher end coffee grinder and I am not disappointed. I did some extensive research into grinders before I pulled the trigger on this one and I am not disappointed. It is heavy duty, fits well in my hand and produces a uniform consistent grind. I appreciate that it comes with a carrying case so that it is easy to pack up and bring with me when I travel. The burr is extremely sharp and grinding expresso is done easily.

Pricey but unquestionably worth the money
Yes it's expensive, but it is extremely well made, works flawlessly and looks amazing. After purchasing someone asked me "you have to pay how much and then grind by hand?" But this grinder is unquestionably worth the money. You have a huge variety in adjustment to the grind size, and once you get used to how to hold the grinder it'll be extremely fast to use. Cannot recommend enough.
