Would this work to charge through the USB in a 220v country?

It only comes with a plug for standard outlets in the US, but it charges though your computer also, so can be charged anywhere

So I am having issues with this product actually pulling the cork out, it projects the screw down but the stops and no longer moves in any direction

Yes, mine would bog down or stop, too. I am not using this opener any longer.

can you replace the batteries?

It is charged with a USB port. You cannot open to change the rechargeable battery.
