Very useful piece of kit
Having had a reflector telescope for a few months now I decided that a Collimator would be a useful aid in insuring that the instrument was probably set up. Having purchased items from SVBony before I decided to go to them for this model. The collimator arrived well packed and with basic instructions as to how to use, however there are many videos on Utube showing this procedure and would recommend watching some of them as it makes understanding the set up much easier. The collimator felt well made and proved straightforward to use in fine tuning my telescope, overall a good tool and well priced for the quality. I am happy to recommend this product.

Arrived perfectly collimated, beam is slightly oval but still functional.
Bought this for just £23 after returning a much more expensive (~£140) HoTech collimator that arrived badly out of alignment, and with no way to adjust it. The Svbony collimator was perfectly collimated on arrival (at least as far as I could measure). One thing I would say is when checking its collimation using a V block or similar, you need to remove the laser warning sticker from the device body, otherwise it causes the axis of the collimator body to shift slightly as you rotate the collimator and the sticker comes into and out of contact with the V block. You wouldn’t think it would make much difference but it is enough to make the beam position jump as you rotate the device, and make you think it’s out of collimation.Deducted one star because the beam profile is slightly oval rather than circular

Easy and quick collimation.
Comes already collimated itself, easier and faster to use than a collimation cap. There are 7 brightness levels useful for collimating in various light levels. The brightest is very bright - so be careful not to look down at the primary to see if the beam is centred until you are absolutely certain it isn't missing the secondary (wave your hand in front of the telescope or use a piece of paper).

Very easy to collimate my telescope
This is a great little device making alignment of the secondary and primary mirrors of my reflector telescope so easy to achieve. I am delighted with this gadget and would recommend it to all astronomers who use reflector telescopes.

Poor self Collimation - Needed setting up
The media could not be loaded. Looks nice out of the box. Unfortunately, mine also came with appalling initial self collimation. The site listing says that the unit cannot be adjusted to achieve collimation, and indeed the adjuster holes are covered in a poured in liquid rubber. Carefully cutting out the rubber revealed three allen head bolts. Creating a simple timber V block the poor collimation was confirmed. After releasing and adjusting the allen head bolts, good self collimation was achieved. Whilst this all took less than an hour, and the purchased item is now useable, it's mighty disappointing that the primary function of the unit - good self collimation - was so terrible, rendering it unfit for purpose and in a non-merchantable quality. The laser dot is fine at the lower settings when in use. However, the dot is slightly distorted and smudged at full brightness — a lower setting for the win. If you have the time, patience and skill to create a practical V block arrangement, then it is possible to correct the poor initial state of the unit. However, if you want something that is right straight from the box, then you run the risk of getting a unit like mine: annoyingly unfit and pointless for accurate setting up of a telescope.

Nice hardware, by mine was useless out of the box - needs alignment!
Great value hardware, but mine arrived horribly mid-aligned. Don’t expect to use it straight out of the box!Alignment was simple enough - there are countless YouTube videos showing how to adjust the laser so the beam is co-axial with the mechanical axis of the collimator. No harder than the telescope collimation task you’re trying to do in the first place.Minus two stars because this adjustment isn’t part of the product - no instructions, and the adjustment screws are hidden away under sticky sealant. Should just come with a simple test jig, a screwdriver and some good instructions! If you’re happy digging into the device to unseal the adjustment screws and do the biz, you’ll be pleased with the product ultimately.

The laser itself is out of collimation
There is some slack between the laser and the 1.25" adapter that comes with the device. The laser itself is out of collimation, if you rotate it the dot moves in circles. The three screws to adjust this are buried beneath rubber which is difficult to remove.

It works.
Excellent quality. The internal laser can arrive out of line but this one was spot on. Mirrors now aligned perfectly.
