Their print presentation is often pretty cheap and generic as far as I'm concerned
I don't often buy manga. Their print presentation is often pretty cheap and generic as far as I'm concerned, not something that begs me to throw money at them and display them on a shelf with some sort of pride. Not a fault of the stories inside, even something like Berserk can fall under that description despite the manga itself bursting with quality, but for something I want to be proud to physically own, they don't really fit the bill outside of a few select examples.Jojo is one of those few select examples. You see a bunch of other manga on a shelf and they're interchangeable with their generic "if it ain't broke" presentation, seeming almost like they're all part of the same series at a quick glance. The presentation of these Jojo books however stands out for all the right reasons. They look gorgeous and some effort has clearly gone into the presentation of these things. The paper it's printed on is good quality, sturdy, as though hamon is flowing through every page. I would go as far as to say they're some of the better looking books I own, they just look classy. Holding one of these in your hands will make you feel like a true gentleman. Even Speedwagon is impressed. As for the specific book in question, Phantom Blood 01: It's alright. It's all I can really say about it. I hated Phantom Blood when I first watched the anime, and going back to it with realistic expectations (I.E I knew stands and road rollers weren't in this part) upon buying/reading the books it's still my least favorite part, but it is ultimately a nice read and a great setup for everything to come. It's the better way to experience Phantom Blood, if for any reason than the pacing being much better with the books. The worst I can really say is that sometimes the book shows its age either through dated art or questionable decisions in regards to panel design, but it is fairly old in terms of a manga, so things like that are to be expected. Even then, it's never enough to make it any less enjoyable. If you're a Jojo fan, these books are worth a purchase simply for the presentation alone. If you're looking to get into Jojo, Phantom Blood is still the best place to start (necessary really), BUT keep in mind that it doesn't get to the truly 'bizarre' stuff until at least part 2 'Battle Tendency'.

The most definitive manga is finally available in the English language!
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a definitive piece of Japanese manga history. It is one of the most popular series in Japan and still goes on to this day. After many years, Part 1 is now available in the English language. This series follows the Joestar bloodline and their "Bizarre adventures". Part 1 focuses on the start of the bloodline, Jonathan Joestar and his battle against the infamous Dio Brando. Dio is adopted by the Joestar family, his goal is to inherit the Joestar fortune. Of course, Jonathan is the sole heir, Dio wants rid of Jonathan. It's an overall satisfying read. The art is slighty dated but it has a slight charm to it. As with all of Araki's work, the artstyle evolves as the story progresses, keeping it fresh. The overall quality of the book is great, the coloured pages are well done and the cover is of great quality. If you want a manga that has bizarre happenings, dramatic storytelling and iconic setpieces, then this manga is for you.

Fantastic
Absolutely superb. I recently started watching the anime and loved it, when I heard they were releasing the manga for part 1 and 2, I just had to get them. This is the first manga I have ever bought, and it has certainly enticed me to buy more. The new art for the cover and back is very high quality, as well as the book itself. It's got a well bound hard cover and high quality thick pages. Some of the pages are in full colour, which look stunning to say these were originally made around 30 years ago. Some pages are black and white with orange highlights with the rest being in ordinary black and white. A very good translation that's easy to read and understand, and this is coming from someone who's never read a manga before. I am definitely going to buy the next 2. The long wait for the Part 2 manga will be unbearable.

Brilliant
If you enjoyed the Anime adaptation to JoJo's bizarre adventure, I highly recommend you reading the manga, as there is unseen, and unsensered scenes, that the anime cut out.
