Nice Enough For An Old Jeep
First off it's steel not particle board. I would not leave a firearm or treasure in it unattended but it's fine for basic gadgets and necessary items. I installed a scanner,CB,USB ports and cell phone holder in mine. Basically adding a multi media center to my old Jeep and catapulting it into the 21st century. Getting everything mounted and wired was an ordeal but that is all on me and my choices so I can't fault the center console for that. It looks great and the elbow pad is exactly the correct height + very comfortable. The lock is tight and holds the doors securely. Be careful when mounting and do not over torque the bolts or you will pop the welds. As everyone has said the cup holders are not great but if you look around you can find cups that fit well and don't fall out when you go around corners. For off road you just gotta use sealed containers and secure them somewhere else. I did not use the seat belt holder straps. I've found that if you have the hard plastic piece on the buckle side and tighten down the torx bolt, the belt will just stay where you put it. So that was not a problem for me. The next closest metal option is 2-3 times the price of this one so if you're on a budget this is the way to go. It's not perfect but it's nice enough for an old jeep

Great product, fast delivery, easy install, JEEP STORAGE SPACE!!!
This is a very sturdy console, and it adds some much needed storage space to my 92 YJ. I just use the stereo portion for extra storage space, but it would work great for securing a stereo. I gave it a 5 star rating because it is reasonably priced, shipped and was delivered within a couple days, was very easy to install, and it added storage space. The only downside is that the passenger side seatbelt gets stuck now and then when you move the seat up and back down again, but you can alleviate this by just holding the seatbelt while you move the seat... not bothersome enough to remove a star.

Perfect console for CJ7
Was looking at Tuffy Box and Rugged Ridge consoles for CJ7 and came across this Smittybilt console. Easy installation 3 small holes to drill. Fits nicely and the radio panel was perfect solution for installing a modern single DIN stereo.

Poor hardware quality control and instructions kill an otherwise great product.
When I first received the product, it looked great. Built sturdy and seemed like it would work well (despite the ridiculous cup holders). Immediately upon beginning to assemble it, using the very poor instructions:1) First step, easy enough, install the neoprene liner. Unfortunately it didn't really line up properly. It was a little too wide and not quite long enough to fit perfectly. No big deal, I just cut off the excess length and the small space that's uncovered is no big deal. But also noticed the precut holes (looks like they're mangled....not punched) didn't line up with the holes on the bottom of the console, meaning I had to cut new holes anyway. Why couldn't they save money on drilling holes in the wrong places and just let the customer cut them properly to fit? Maybe use the $ saved to get the size proper?2) Okay, no big deal on the neoprene. Second step is to install the seat belt holders for the sides. I'm very glad they included this. Great feature! First off, I notice I'm missing hardware and will have to contact support to get some for the other side. So I start installing the first side. I had to use an extra washer to get the cap nut to tighten down properly. Got one on....then the second cap nut literally fell apart the second I started tightening it. Same happened to the second. I'm missing the third. So now I'm two steps in and already run into two snags. Not looking forward to the rest of this installation. With just a little bit more effort, this would be a great product. Unfortunately, although the unit itself seems solid, the crappy hardware and poor instructions make it mediocre and frustrating. Tempted to give it 2 stars, but the price is right, so I guess you get what you pay for.Bottom line, if you want higher quality overall and less headaches, get the Tuffy. If you want a good bang for the buck and don't mind ordering more cheap hardware, or running to the store and buying some (let's face it, who wants to wait a week to get $0.35 in hardware?) then this is probably a good product.

Works in Crown Vic
I have a Crown Victoria Police Interceptor and needed a center console because i couldn’t find the Havis police center console used for a good price. Its a metal Console Box, its pretty sturdy for the most part, the cup holders are kinda flimsy, you can adjust the cup holder arms for the size of your drinks but they do not stay in one place they spring back to the completely open position, the main compartment of the box is lockable, its very big inside and can fit plenty of stuff, in my case i keep paper work and a clipboard in there, theres a small compartment for a Stereo, the space is small in there so its going to be select for what stereo you put in there, i removed the welded sections in it so try to make room for my Siren box but it was still too small, so if you don’t want to put a stereo in there you can put some select Ham/CB radios in there, it does have a large hole in the bottom for wiring your stereo system, the arm rest pad is pretty nice and comfortable. I had a Havis Mounting plate that bolts to the seats so i drilled a few extra holes into the box and my Havis Mounting Plate and bought bolts that i wanted to use which i think was 4 inch long 1/4 in bolts and nuts, its pretty secure to the Havis Mounting Plate. It sits a little high in the crown vic but its still more comfortable than no Center console. If you are going to install this into a Crown Vic, you can either find or order a Havis Mounting plate or just place the box into the gab between the seats. It comes with really long mounting screws so if you feel comfortable with drilling into the center of your car you can bolt it that way. I didn’t feel comfortable doing that buts thats only my preference on how well i can do it, you may be able to do it better than i could. $110 i think it was worth it, especially dealing with not center console and no cup holders for a while. Warning some of you boxes will come with slightly chipped paint, mine did but it was inside the box so its not that big a deal for me.
