I have a serta chair without holes in the back. Is it possible to drill holes in it and attach this product? Has anyone tried it?

Yes. I have attached three of these to regular office chairs. I used toggle bolts. Just watch the length so they don't poke you in the back.

I just had some round head wood crews and made sure they fit in the slot perfectly not to long or you'll probably feel them sticking you through the vinyl chair covering.
