Aromatic and no more stomach issue
Excellent quality coffee beans! I absolutely love the aroma. it’s so rich and inviting. The taste is exquisite, smooth, and full of flavor. Since switching to these beans, I haven’t had any issues with my stomach, which makes me appreciate them even more. I enjoy using them for both hot and cold drinks, and they never disappoint. Every cup feels like a treat! Definitely worth every penny I highly recommend it to all coffee lovers.

A real find -- great taste plus ethical
Today I received my first order of Java Planet Costa Rican dark roast, 3 weeks after it was roasted. I have been drinking Volcanica Sumatra Mandheling Reserve dark roast and love that but wanted to try another coffee that is very strong on environmental protection and fair trade. This Java Planet comes from LA Hacienda Astrud, where 90% of the land remains as a huge rain forest and the coffee trees are shaded as well by banana trees. Now ... the taste and getting there. Inseparable from a lovely odor when I opened the bag and poured all but my 8 oz cupful into an airtight vacuum container so that it will store well. Then ground with my conical burr grinder for my DeLonghi Alicia electric moka pot -- which I love and which is so much more consistent than my Bialetti classic. Added spring water (cold, but that is so controversial either hot or cold) and patted gently the ground coffee with a finger, not pressing but evening it out. Then screwed the pot top on and turned on its electricity. Three minutes later, my Costa Rico coffee was ready. Poured it in a 12 Oz glass and added with Zulay frother ($8) half and half froth to top the glass. Is it diluting the coffee too much to use a tablespoon of half and half instead of milk? I dont think so. This coffee is not at all overwhelmed. The taste comes through completely, just mellowed a little bit. I describe all this because maybe out there is some newcomer like me to quality coffee who will wonder just what I did to get such a perfect cup of coffee. The taste.... the chocolate note comes first, not as strong as Sumatra(or with Sumatra "pay attention" bold note) but inviting with a caramel touch following chocolate as the coffee slides over the roof of my mouth. And then another taste I can't describe but it is pleasant and unassuming. At the same time it is lovely as it lingers. After that comes the swallow, which invites the next sip. There is not the slightest bitterness, which sometimes can happen when a dark roast is ground too fine.Did I mention that this Costa Rican dark roast is low acid and low caffeine so there is unlikely to be any avid indigestion or coffee jitters? Since this coffee invites me to have more, that is also a plus. And it is sometimes misunderstood that dark roasts are less likely to create acid indigestion or caffeine jitters even though the taste is "strong." I can also feel good about the wildlife on 90% of the rainforest reserve that brought these coffee beans from farmers treated fairly. I am impressed by the environmental and fair trade conscientiousness of LA Hacienda Astrud, which created the preserve by donating its own land and has been recognized by UNESCO and Smithsonian.Three cheers for Java Planet for carrying a Costa Rico coffee that has it all! Clearly I will order again, probably going to the Java Planet website to do so.

Delicious and no more heartburn
66 years young, lifelong coffee drinker. Past couple of years, my stomach has been yelling at me to stop with coffee. Heartburn, nasty tasting, oils floating on top of the coffee in the carafe. Decided to search Amazon for a low acid coffee. This brand, these beans...AMAZING! Such a yummy, smooth, cleaner cup of coffee. I am SOLD on this product. My non-upset stomach, my peace and my joy over morning coffee has returned.

Smooth flavor
Great coffee but not too much flavor and aroma; you need to grind it fine to get good results and good coffee

Lovely
I love that it’s organic, low acid, Swiss water decaf, and mold free. Taste is excellent.I wish I knew what the PH level is….maybe that could be added to description. I emailed the company to find out. If I can ever figure out how to edit a review, I will come back and add that

It's not what I thought it was...
This "sniffs in" at about 3.5 stars. I recall I was on the fence about this one since it wasn't crystal clear if this was a low-acid coffee for heartburn sufferers OR a coffee that simply had lower acidity levels affecting the taste. It appears this is a coffee focused on the latter, not the former. Since I have GERD, this wasn't really what I was shopping for. Other reviewers indicate the same comment about it not being an ideal choice for heartburn sufferers. That being said, here is my review of the product based on taste and flavor:For the record, I use a Breville Burr Grinder to get the proper grind for making hot coffee and cold brew that I make home. My coffeemaker is a DeLonghi model costing around $100 or less. I use a gold metal basket to carry the grounds. It sniffs pretty good out of the sack and I'm an odd bird so I like to bury my beak in the gap between the carafe and the drip of my coffeemaker during the early part of the brew cycle. It smells pretty good but not as good as Lucy Jo's Mellow Belly Low Acid Brazilian coffee. I bought both of these at the same time to compare and contrast for a new low acid coffee. The color of the brew is deep and dark. There is no bitterness or sourness to speak of which is pretty remarkable. A mere touch of sourness came on later but it was very nominal. I'm not getting much off of this brew via nose or taste. It's a little non-descript compared to Lucy Jo's as well. It tastes soft and smooth with some whole milk added but all I'm picking up is the roasted flavor and some nuttiness. The body is full. The second cup was a little bit better than the first. I definitely feel the acid more here compared to Lucy Jo's which isn't surprising now. I doubt I'll order this again since I was seeking a truly low-acid coffee produced for GERD sufferers. I typically mix some other favorite producers with low-acid beans so that it becomes more interesting and complex than a low-acid coffee on its own.

We can’t keep this coffee in stock at our house. It’s so rich and delicious. It’s also good to know we are drinking clean organic coffee that we love.
