Q: Do these socks have a ‘heel’ as part of the design or are they straight down from top to the heel, tube socks?

They are basically tubes with extra material at the heel. Not a proper shaped heel.

Q: Would these socks be too tight for plus sized girls?

I'm plus size 16 and in boots usually need a wide calf - these socks will go over a large calf's however if u tumble dry them they maybe a bit tight initially to pull up.... I wear them as slouch socks - so have not experienced this issue.

Q: Would these be suitable as ski socks?

I can’t answer the question precisely because I’ve never skied and I don’t know what makes a good ski boot sock. I actually bought them because I have insomnia and they keep my legs and feet warm when I’m up in the night in the winter. However, I do walk and I wouldn’t wear these with walking boots personally because they are not thick enough and they are single layer socks. Hope this helps
