Durability
Was loud in my old box, I cannot hear it in my Fractal Define 7 case but these are known to be loud. Working after 1 year. Constant write from Blue Iris.

Super drive, works super quiet, I record 8 cameras 24/7 on 2 of these drives. No failure yet.

Reliable drive, but loud.
Works well, but this is the loudest HD I've owned. I needed to move my surveillance computer into a spare room with the door closed.

Good drive for an NVR security system
Ordered a Network Video Recorder without the HD because of the price the vendor wanted. I saved about $30 on this and got free shipping. It didn't have mounting screws but, I had plenty of extras. It was easy to mount to the bottom screw holes. You can capture a lot of video with 10TB of storage capacity. I like the SATA III speed. This drive is also designed with a 512MB cache which is nice. It has a spin rate of 7200RPM so this is a well designed drive. It is a good alue for the money and I will not hesitate to buy another one.

Very Noisy and Thumping Sound
These drives are not quiet. My old 4 TB Purple drive is silent. When I installed the new 12 TB Purple drive, as soon as I applied power, it started thumping. Once the NAS booted, the drive started reading and got very loud and kept thumping. Returned it for a replacement. The replacement does the same, but not quite as loud. Maybe it's the Pro version that's loud, but this one is being returned too. I'll try a non-Pro version or another brand.UPDATE: After some additional research, I found that the thumping noise is a "feature?" called PWL (Preventative Wear Leveling). It will thump every 5 seconds when the drive is idle. Apparently it's a feature/irritant in larger capacity drives. :(
