Long-Term Reviews Matter
I bought and self-installed this pump back in Oct 2022. Its hard to find good long term reviews as most people do them in the first couple of weeks. Install I thought was very easy(and this was the first pool pump I've ever installed)... I love the screw on compression connections, makes it very easy for later maintenance which im getting to soon. Electrical couldnt be more simple as a swap out(I am experienced with electrical though). This replaced an old Heyward 2HP that was here when I bought the house... for me this XtremePower 2HP runs stronger than the Heyward did, but I also think someone rebuilt the Heyward as some of the part #'s didnt match up. Regardless, I have a huge pool, and when the cartridge filter is clean, this pump cycles my water like a boss... so strong that the cheap old vacuum that was left here was getting stuck to the bottom of the pool(new vac fixed that, but the Heyward was never strong enough to do that).LONGTERM - It's been 1.5 years and this week the pump motor was running but i had very little water movement...My first thought(specially based on some other reviews) was that this low cost pump was dying. But before replacing it I needed to at least pull it out and give it a maintenance look since the motor was still running. My one knock on this unit is there is a fence on the Strainer Housing between the Pump Cover and the Impeller... so getting to the impeller with a screwdriver to see if its plugged is not an option, you have to disassemble it. I removed the pump, which again was super easy due to the screw on fittings, and electric again easy to remove. Im so glad i took the time to do this, I removed the Strainer Housing(6 bolts), removed the Pump Cover(2 screws), and exposed the Impeller. Sure enough after 1.5 years of debris, enough hardy small leaves from my shrubs snuck in there and clogged the impeller. At first I was a little angry I needed to do all this just to unclog the impeller, but I think after doing it, it was a blessing. I was able to clean all these parts with soap and water, including 3 of the o-rings( I didnt use lubricant as the manual stresses not too). After cleaning and putting it back together the pump looked brand new, and is once again performing as good as it did day 1... no leaks, no issues, great power. So, with a little care and maintenance Im hoping to get another year or 2 out of this little trooper... maybe more!!! well worth the money, specially being a lower cost unit. One other note, motor runs hot, and if left in the desert sun it might get hot enough to open up some sort of black hole or time/space continuum haha... be sure to keep this little gem in the shade, he deserves some comfort for all his hard work! Hope this helps.

Great pump for the money
Nice quiet pump. Works great and was a good price. I use it for my pool which is about 9000 gallons. Very easy to install doesn't come with connectors. Which the threads are on the inside.

Don't buy from this unethical seller
I purchased this pump back in August 2022, it worked as expected for a few months, but back on May of this year while sitting next to the pool, the pump started smoking, I immediately turned it off. Checked the electric panel, and the breakers were not tripped off. Next morning tried to turn it on, but it didn't start.Contacted the seller and they said: This pump did include a 1 year warranty card but it's only valid if it was mailed back within the required time framed and the proof of installation.I told them that I mailed it to their address in CA, and they said that they were going to check, a couple of days later they said that they didn't have a record on file that they received it so it had no warranty, and also there was NO proof of professional installation. The registration card had to be sent within 14 days of receiving the p ump, and had to be installed by a certified/licensed tech.Certified installation? One Xtremepower was already installed when I purchased the house, the pump was not providing enough flow to the filter, and the pool guy said that I should replace it. I replaced it myself, I am engineer and I work on airplanes, so for sure I can handle a simple three wires replacement of the pump that was already installed.Long story short, they refused to honor the warranty.Note: I purchased extended warranty when I purchased the pump, when contacted them after I had exhausted all instances to get this vendor stand up for the quality of their products, the extended warranty company said that they cannot honor the warranty since the original manufacturing warranty hasn't expired yet.Stay away from this company, they are unethical to say the least.

Good pump, hoping for longer life this time
I bought this pump as a replacement for the same model I purchased a little over two years ago. My first one lasted about 2 years and 4 months, which I guess isn’t too bad, but the motor eventually failed — it started smoking and seemed to run hotter than other pumps I’ve owned in the past. Most of the time I kept it on low speed and it worked fine, but the heat buildup was noticeable. The reason I decided to buy the same pump again is because my pipes are already set up for this model, and I didn’t want to redo the plumbing. Performance-wise, the pump does the job well and is easy to connect. I’ve added a cover over the motor this time to protect it from the heavy Florida rains (my guess is water intrusion may have contributed to the early failure before). The cover still allows airflow, so I’m hopeful that will help it last longer.Overall, it’s a solid pump for the price, especially if you don’t want to mess with replumbing your setup. I just wish the first one had lasted a little longer. Fingers crossed this replacement holds up past the 2.5-year mark.
