No, they aren't heavy at all - weigh about as much as a dinner plate. These are medium sized pasta bowls and are very pretty.

Are these plates made in England?

The back stamp states that they do. The plates are gorgeous & have a lovely smooth feel. I'm very happy with the spode dinnerware.

Beautiful print

Beautiful print but I received the plates totally broken as there was no ample protective packaging and only a thin small brown cardboard sheet was placed in between four plates. All the plates were placed in a spode box and this box was placed inside a big amazon box without any fragile label or cushion or bubble wrap or Styrofoam to protect it in moving while in transit.
