This a great soap with a pleasant citrus and rosemary smell with a gentle feel. After purchasing a new walnut end grain cutting board, I wanted a soap less heavy on its "grease stripping" power like my usual Dawn; yes I want to get my board clean, but I don't want to leech the oils out or have various chemicals penetrate into the wood. This soap does an excellent job of cleaning up my board safely. To be fair, I baby my cutting board, so I'm not leaving it covered in greases, sauces, and other stuff; thus I can't really attest to how well this soap would perform on really tough washing jobs. It's really a great value at the price and with how suited it is to caring for a nice cutting board!

Just what I needed. Easy to use

I have a handmade cutting board that is a work of art, created by an American Veteran who has a disability and is unable to work a traditional job. The back history on it as well as the look of it makes it something special to me and I take a lot of pains to care for it.When I first got the piece, I didn’t really know how to take care of it and I washed it with soap and water. After a few weeks and being washed a couple of times, it lost its sheen and was really dull looking. I began just using it as something to look at and not to chop on so that I wasn’t stripping the board. I also began applying spoon butter regularly (a mixture of beeswax and sunflower or coconut oil) to moisturize and help maintain its surface. You should never soak your wooden products; they can crack or warp over time.This product is great because it allows me to clean the wood without harsh chemicals, so I’ll keep comfortable using it again as a cutting board. The scent of the soap in the bottle is a welcoming lemon and due to the fact that it has coconut and castor oils in it, the board doesn’t look dehydrated after washing it. Another thing I like is that it doesn’t make the cutting board smell like the soap afterward unlike my regular dish soap. This alone won’t replace the spoon butter but I’ll use that after the board is fully dried to preserve its appearance; the more important thing is that I can use it as a cutting board again.This is an 8 ounce bottle of soap so it will last quite a long time. Overall, I’m very pleased with this product. Cleans without stripping or leaving scents on the board. So simple to use, this would also make a great gift. I will definitely order this again.
