I unlocked a core memory: So cool to relive my childhood in the late 70s with these fun toys. Despite the product description, these are solid metal not plastic. I miss the original push pins but the holes are still there so I can rig something up. The newer sets provide Funtac to hold the ring on the paper, but, warning, it doesn't like ALL paper stocks - some thicker stock paper didn't want to let the funtac release. I think you could rig up a small foamboard plate to pin the metal plates down like the original set because the pin holes are on the newer die cast rings. Anyway, 5/5 because these are so cool in solid metal and will outlast me. $25 is a good price. I might add the $14 original set in for the extra pieces. "D

I have been looking at this Diecast Metal Spirograph for some time and being a child of the 1960's and the memories of the plastic version of this fun device well .... . .I got it it looks better in person and the Metal storage case and plastic formed spaces to keep each "Gear" in it's proper space is very kind of the manufacturer . Many thanks.But the big test is how it works and compares to the original and this Set just blew me away and had me smiling from ear to ear.This is the Grown up version of the Vintage version and for my generation folks just Get This Set !!

A bit after my "Tonka Toy" years, I faded into lite brite, etch-a sketch and things of that nature. This set struck my curiosity and bought it. It comes with some kind of putty to hold the gears in place, but I remember pins doing that. The gears do have small holes in them, so you can fasten them that way. But you must use a type of board in back of the paper so the pins can penetrate. Didn't try it yet, but it's made of cast, gold type plated. What else can be said, very nice. Also, it comes in a nice packaged tin!

Got four of these for the kiddos for Christmas. They all four loved them! These are exceptionally made and are of an heirloom quality build so if taken care of they could last generations! FYI kiddos are 11, 10, 8, and 6!

I had one of the spirograph travel sets as a kid, and it was one of my favorite things to play with (and I would cover our house in post-its which I would take from my mom's stash!). Fast forward like 30 years later... when I saw this set, I put of purchasing it as it's a bit pricey and I definitely don't need it. I finally gave in when I got an Amazon gift card as a present, it this was a true guilty purchase. I love the metal gears in this set and the fact that it comes with a storage tin. I am sure that Hasbro had grown-up kids like me in mind when they made this set, because the metal pieces make it feel like the adult version of the toy we all loved. I think this would be a great gift for other grown-up kids - especially with how presentable the collectible tin is. I've also had a good time using this is new ways no that I've grown up - incorporating it into other drawings and art, and turning some of my spirograph drawings into coloring projects and doodles. I find that this thing is a great way to zone out when I just want to clear my mind and relax for a bit. If you see it go on sale, grab it while you can!

Small size doesn't deter from the fun. This can be easily packed or stored and everything fits into the smaller can.
